I’m having a hell of a time trying to get the front guard and pistol grip off ? Nothing is working and the cheap soft metal screws are now mangled :/ anyone have any issues ?? Or tips :)

Like a heat gun ? Okay cause I’ve had an easier time getting thread locked screws out. Just trying to get the rail system on.. been at it for a couple hours. Tried wd40 ect no luck, even full torque on my electric drill isn’t working :(

Kk now that main screw is out from the forend hiw is it removed after that ? Sorry but I don’t usually have to work on guns. Thanks

Dear god...

Do you have a grinder and a hex bit screwdriver? You need to look up how to hollow grind your own driver bits to tightly fit a slot, and then you just need to eat your wheaties. Buggered screw heads happen because you don't take the time to get a proper bit to slot fit.

As for tapping on the handguard, consider laying a piece of protective wood on the handguard and then tapping on the sacrificial piece. Why mar up the wood for no reason?

Man is everything ok over there? Are you sure you are using the right sized screwdriver? I hope you make it thru this and actually are going to be ok going shooting when the time comes....Just take you time and use some lube....patience is always key with these sort of things and make sure you get the proper thread when you replace the screws

He used a DRILL on the screws. That says everything I need to know.

It's not a gun's fault when the owner doesn't understand his/her limits and chooses not to get gunsmithing help.

the grip screw is really tight mine, I`m scared of stripping out the screw. I gave it a tap before trying to turn but it won`t budge.

Proper size driver and make sure it's square to the screw head and fully engaged, my grip and forend screws both came out smoothly, they were tight but it was not difficult.
DO NOT USE A DRILL OR ANY TYPE OF ELECTRIC DRIVER!!!

Good luck

My grip screw basically sheared on both sides of the slot, and yes I used the correct driver and technique. So I just drilled off the rest of the head and replaced it with a proper Allan head screw after refinishing the wood. It took an unbelievable amount of torque to remove the T nut from the grip screw once I had it out of the receiver, no way a flat head driver would have moved mine.

Just had to tap the forend wood down once the screw an rod were removed.

Same with mine, I got ridiculed but I used the proper tools. I’m pretty sure mine was thread locked. I drilled out the screw as well. Could you please tell me what screw you used to replace as I now have to replace mine as well. Thank you
