T97 and LAR15 Mags

Have never been able to get poly mags to fit in my T97 with FTU. Even had to (embarrassingly) visit a gunsmith to have one removed at one point. I have various metal mags that do--some old Canadian C7 surplus mags that were pinned to 5, and metal LAR15s (manufacturer unknown). Honestly, when hunting for mags for the T97, I just physically bring my rifle to the shop and try mags until I find one that fits. But never polymer mags....just don't ever seem to work.

Okay, I decided to find time to see why mine was not happy with the LAR's.
By my measurements the LAR's are about ten thou or better bigger than the mag supplied with the rifle.
So I looked at where my interference was and with a light found it was a very small area at the back of the mags.
Basically they cut the channel too tight and too square on my gun.
Less than 5 minutes with a file and some emery cloth and the LAR's click in and drop free correctly. Plus they function perfectly so far.
The down side is the factory magazine is now a jam-o-matic...I'm sure if I put tape on the leading front edge as others have it would be okay but let's face it, I'll never use it again :)
Scope mounting height and is the LHG worth the cost and weight are my next dilemmas...
