T97... Are you happy with your purchase? Sights no good?

I'll tell you one thing, I sold my Sabre AR because owning a restricted gun in Canada is too much BS for me. The ranges around here are all PACKED every day of the week. A slightly superior fit and finish on a restricted rifle certainly doesnt trump a very acceptable fit and finish on a T97 that I can take and shoot wherever I please. Ill never go back to owning restricted guns. shooting at paper targets all day is and will always be boring to me.

A lot of people around here just want to feel high and mighty for spending 2500 On their XCR or Tavors, whilst none of those arm chair commandos will ever see "war" or "zombie apocolypse". Face it, these rifles are for fun and nothing more. if you actually rely on your rifle to do your job everyday, then sure spend more money and get something you know you can rely on 100%. All firearm manufacturers put out duds from time to time.

You've given up and played right into the anti's game.

I'll keep buying quality, thank you.

I do use my rifles. I use my mini 14 for work.

lol, some people here are so jaded. Played into the antis game? I am not about to go out and spend 1500+ on a rifle I can only shoot at an over crowded range on the weekends. As unfortunate and frustrating it is, the laws aren't going to change any time soon. Therefore I have to abide by them whether I Agree with them or not.

and "quality" NR black rifles are way out of my price range.

Got somewhere between 650 and 700 rounds down the pipe. No feed or or firing issues. Thats with stock mag, LAR15s and a cheape LAR mag a buddy picked up. Iron sight suck no surprise. Ran a TRS on the rail attachement from CanAmmo for sights which worked great. I am a bit wary of some of the 1" MOA at 100 yard claims but definitely some shooter error on my part. Overall very happy with it. Bad ergos can and have been worked out with practice.

Good luck finding/collecting brass. It kicks it so far out even on gas setting 1, and real hard out of the ejection port. Puts a good ding/dent into the brass. Not sure if they're reloadable or not.

You guys that are complaining about the rear sight being "blurry" realize that is how peeps work, right? You focus on the front sight and the target, your eye will automatically center the front post in the blurred rear sight.

If you don't want to chase and collect your dinged brass you could always shut of the gas and hand cycle the action.

Yeah that's worth a shot. A touch less fun though. The rifle ejects the casing so well. me and a friend were giving setting 0 a try and I nailed him in the face with one just casually Cycling it manually without much force behind it and he was sitting 6 feet away.

I was thinking the same thing 8 ball, wasn't going to post the obvious, just have to remember we have a very mixed bag as far as experience goes on here in regards to iron sight marksmanship. So I agree with your post X2.

Most people have no idea how to shoot a rifle over aperture sights, the very best type put on any rifle for accuracy and functionality. How do I know this? Just by helping others with a few simple pointers and guess what, ...Bingo, they're shooting like champs. My wife, son and daughter ,and friends included.

Helped a friend just two weeks ago who was concerned if he should sell a No4Mk1 P-H and not procede to scope it due to very poor accuracy he was getting. I said bring her out to our range with me, I'll try it over irons and see what we get.
The lovely sportered P-H No4Mk1 with it's correct milled rear Mk1 sight and pristine bore of course was a nail driver using W-w 180s on the short 50 yard we picked due to weather. He said,.. "I can't hit a damn thing with that gun", but he could perform very well with any patridge type sighted firearm.
A simple 2-3 minute explanation on aperture sight usage, spot weld, stock weld etc and he fired 5, three shot groups, very tightly into the 5 of 2" orange bulls at 50 yards some only 1" groups!! A way better shooter than me now because I can't see them like I used to hehe.
He brought good basic marksmanship skills to the range already, like most guys do here, but just didn't understand aperture iron sight's like so many younger people today who never trained with them in the Army or competitive civilian target rifle. His old jack handle .303 had now become his pride and joy.

When you understand and learn your irons you will love them for life. There are better sights for specific purposes you can add to your Black Rifle, dots for CQB, glass for long range with poor target visibilty like Elcans or Acogs and so on, but these iron sights are robust and very useable. Learn them well.

It's rarely the rifle, more often the shooter, sorry.

My son was recognized for the best scores during his basic training on the C7A2, but still needed instruction on aperture sight use on his own Armalite M15A4. There are excellent quality aperture sights and there are cheap ones like the plastic ones on my M-1 22 Chiappa USGI Carbine copy, but you know,... they still shoot to POA when sighted well and used correctly!

My concern is the sights, as mounting optics is not ideal, at least till I could get the new upper/rail setup.
Reliability by all accounts is good, so what else is there to be concerned with? Cheers, M

We're planning to address several ergonomic and functional issues with a new, machined T97NSR lower in the New Year; for now, the Flat Top Upper we designed with a non-reciprocating charging handle lowers the sight plane and offers a solid platform upon which to mount optics. The new lower will be 100% compatible with the FTU. More photos can be seen here.

^ Very nice!!! I Just shot my T97 for the first time, put 100 rounds through her, not one hiccup. Very smooth shooting rifle, I actually prefer it over my last AR. works great with black RRA LAR mags. Fantastic purchase as far as I am concerned.

Went to the range with 2 new purchases , T97NSR & a used Tavor . I have still not decided which I like better . The tavor's ergos are great & no coparison to the T97 . The price difference between the 2 , still make the T97 a good bet . I used iron sight on both rifles & was hiiting the 6" gong at 100 yards with both rifles . I have the FTU on order & enjoy shooting both rifles with no faults . I do prefer the T97 for ease of disassemble/reassemble . I got a GREAT deal on both rifles & had planned on selling one of them . Now I plan to keep both . I to sold my AR15 to purchase a NR .223 rifle . I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a T97 & would recommend it . I would even go as far as to say that I like chinese made firearms .
