T97.ca FTU initial impression

Basically 2" at 50 and all over the board at 100.

Hate to be that guy but I was getting better with the stock irons and I'm far from a great shooter.
Granted that was using Winchester whitebox but hmm... Would that make that big of a difference?

With a 5x scope I was getting a little over 1" at 50 (like 1 1/4") running Norinco ammo, off a sandbag, not a marksman by any stretch of imagination

Yes, a scope vs a 3 MOA red dot, or commercial ammo vs Norinco bulk/crap ammo WILL effect your groups. I suspect you guys already knew that.

I had very good results with Fiocchi in my su16f when testing different brands. 1.5 or better at 100 yards from the bench. MFS and Norinco 3-3.5". I think the Fiocchi was about $30 for 50 rounds about the same as Hornady steel match.

Fair enough. When I was running Norc ammo at 100 yards it was all over the place.
Excited to benchmark the FTU/T97 with reloaded ammo and a half decent scope.

Interesting that you had a similar experience at 100 with the same ammo.

I know the accuracy potential is there, comes down to cost/benefit with the ammo.

The ftu is awesome, very well built.
I sold mine because I have an acr being converted to nr right now, a tavor, 308 ar's, and a whole whack of other stuff.
The t97 was simply surplus to my needs.

Ditto guys, relax. You'll love the FTU. I would tell you if it had any issues. Its just a good complete package that would cover the cost of my next project.

Ummm just a few threads down from this one is a homemade shell deflector. That looks VERY promising for lefties. You should check it out. Here's a link

Sadly, it doesn't look like that shell deflector would work with the FTU.

can you give me a pic with a mounted rifle scope on the ftu with you aiming down the sights ? I want to see if you can get your eye right up on a magnified rifle scope. And also see how the cheek weld is as that is super important for me.

Can't get a picture aiming down the optic but rest assured, even with the low'ish cheapy rings I have, my cheap 4x scope is at perfect eye level.

Optics height works great with low rings and a 32mm objective.

Glad to see you guys getting the ftu. Ill probably get another t97 in a year or so when canam gets their #### together.

In the meantime its Sig m400 enhanced FDE for me.
