T97 for Lefties - simple solution?

Will this work? Set gas selector to zero, operate as a single shot, strait pull, bolt action.

If you gotta shoot it like that why even buy one! I hope someone will come up with some type of bolt on deflector for lefthand use. The type 88 has a deflector for lefthand use so it should be doable for the 97. I will buy one if they they do come up with something not until then though.

Best solution(IMHO): Rid yourself of that black-ish RED rifle and get yourself a (NR) Tavor.

The price of admission is pretty steep on a Tavor! I really wish we had access to a reliable, $1k ish relatively modern (ie, no carry handle) non restricted rifle. Seems like this isn't going to happen though (except maybe the MPAR 556). Gotta pay to play I guess. Perhaps in the future AR's will be non restricted... A guy can dream...

The one I shot last week ejected quite violently and hammered the brass pretty good, they definitely throw brass, just a heads up if you are bench shooting right handed, do not rest your left hand on the stock above the ejection port.

Agreed. All of my brass hit the roof of the shelter with determination: about a dozen had collapsed necks from the impact.

Classic, I feel bad for lefty people but the truth is you either learn to shoot from other side or this rifle is not for you. Any lefty would like a quick sale with cash, PM me, lol.

As a left handed shooter I'm highly offended by this statement. Just kidding, that will be my solution when I get one of these.

Being able to shoot from both shoulders is probably a good skill if you are into the "tactical" thing. I imagine "lefties" are used to it to a certain degree and many end up being somewhat ambidextrous.

I think from the bench I'd probably go with the 0 gas setting and rack the brass gently onto the bench.

Funny. Thats the exact same spot as the gash on my lip from the T-97 I used yesterday.

Lieutenant Dan: You better tuck that thing in boy, its likely to get dinged by a T97. Are you two brothers?
Forrest Gump: No we are not relations.

Ya works alot better with handguns than rifles though. With a handgun you can still use your strong eye; a rifle is not so easy. I have shot rifles righthanded but really don't do too good. I almost prefer shooting my handguns righthanded though.ALMOST!

Well, any cover over the port like cardboard, fabric or plastic that allows the case to exit without bouncing back in will work well. Just tape it on. No beard for me. If I grew one I know the desire for a load-bearing harness and multi-cam clothing and/or civilian contractor clothing would take over and break the bank for the sake of "range cred".
