Curious. Is there anyone that can professionally widen the t97 magwell? Even with metal pistol mags. Its a very tight fit. And it is a gen 3
 
You can use a stone and polish it bigger. It's just the part around the spine of the mag. Not the whole well. I got gen 2s pmags to fit quite well. They still don't drop free, but I don't want to go any further.
 
I removed the bolt catch and carefully used a hand file to widen the "spine" until it could accommodate my polymer magazines. I only filed it wide enough that I could insert and remove them without undue effort. Widening it to drop free could be problematic.

Did the same with mine using LAR mags that wouldn’t fit at all. Filed, tried the mag, kept doing this just a bit at a time until the mags went in smoothly. Now it feeds perfectly with all my mags, even my KCI beta. M4 style feed ramps can be filed with a chain saw file the same way, very slowly. Remove too much and the guns a paperweight.
