T97 picture thread

Nick, Xtreme has some still in stock if you are waiting.

Got mine in the mail from wanstalls I should have been smart and ordered at least two. The price is going up ! On m305 rifles as well! Some kind of new tax or something .... Anticipation is killing me.

I was just about to sit down and work out how I would do something like this. Care to share how you went about it?

There are two 1/4'' x 1/4'' blocks on the sides of the lever that I welded to the mag release. They act as a hinge and have a 7/64'' drill rod in them as a holding pin. On the underside of the lever there is a 1/2'' length of 3/16'' rod that acts as the fulcrum, it is as close to hinge as possible for maximum leverage and presses against the mag well. I ground down the bottom of the lever which made a bit of a shelf. The shelf lets you know if your finger is in the right place as pushing on the lever above the shelf does nothing.

It's kind of hard to describe how I made it without having taken pictures along the way. If you have any other questions let me know.

Check out the gun on the far left. SBR. No hand guard at all. And a front iron sight at the front of the hand rail.

Not sure who those guys are, but not ure they are Chinese. They are running 5.56 versions. Check out the mag wells.

Not sure what you mean, but they're airsoft guns -Type 97B, front end quite different from standard. (supposedly the same factory that made the Norinco Type 97 also made the body for the airsoft gun)

(FYI THE GUN IN THE LINK IS REAL SWORD TYPE-97B AIRSOFT GUN)http://www.realsword.com.hk/image/produ_97b/97b_2.jpg

Ok here is my first pass on a riser.
It's a magpul CTR with a .75 rise. I copied the idea from another member but modified it a bit differently: Radiused around the ejection port, cut the clip tabs off the bottom.
It's attached with double sided tape for now. The riser is a quite a bit wider than the stock, I may have to revisit the mounting but for now, it aligns perfectly with the red dot (Strikefire).

So it should look something like this when you're looking at it from what would be the butt of the gun:

How hot did you have your welder? I don't want to melt this son of a #####.

That's pretty much it only that the release is a 1/4'' ground down to about an 1/8'' on the bottom for the shelf. I also ground down a flat on the fulcrum rod where it contacts the release. This was for fine tuning and for better fitment pre-welding. The fulcrum rod was the last thing welded, before I welded it to the release I assembled the unit was able to slide it in between the release and mag well and grind it to a height that worked best.

I had the welder set hotter then I would normally have it set for this thickness of material since I wasn't making a bead and only pulling the trigger (MIG) for 2-3 seconds.

So I ended up doing most of the work on the mill (which was the first time I've ever run it!) and fabricated the release from a chunk of 3/8ths mild steel. I welded two pieces of 1/4" round stock to the release plate and fine tuned the actual release with a file. Sorry for the poor photos; it's late and poor lighting. Probably going to have to put another coat of paint on it. Realized after I hit it with the stray bomb that the can said semi-gloss matte and not matte lol.

There are carry handle scope mounts today for AR....anyone know if the same scope mounts fits the T97? Like this for example:

No. There is a propriety rail system in the space of the carry handle on the T97. It sits lower and would be perfect if we could get the scopes and or adapters for it. The two things we need for this rifle are a drop in decent ambi mag release and the ability to use that strange looking rail already in the carry handle. I've seen one picture of a scope that drops right into there without any adapters or higher up rails. But of course I can't find those scopes anywhere.

why would you use a carry handle on an AR if you were going to mount a scope on top like that? why wouldn't you just get some rings and rail mount the optic?

Step #1- making ambi mag release

Step #2 sell 100,000,000 to PLA

Step #3 Profit!!!!!!!

Step#4, After receiving the first 10 of the shipment as part of their "product evaluation" they cancel the rest of the order and then proceed to make an exact copy at 5% the cost and then market it back to us at 200% markup!! Doh.
