Bought a t97, still waiting for it to arrive. One question has been plaguing me. What is the receiver made out of? Steel or aluminum. Calibre mag stated it was steel but I've read reviews saying it was aluminum.

Aluminum, I have a magnet and a T97 here right now in front of me, and it is aluminum.

Only the receiver is aluminum, it is joined to the barrel by the 2 larges pins near the chamber and locking lugs, all metal parts in front are steel, the receiver's body is aluminum with several steel parts.

I have one with the FTU so that's not really a problem for me.

And like I have to keep saying, apparently:

"If you want to shoot irons, you should buy a dremel, cut the irons off, then pay a few hundred dollars to replace plastic parts with heavier metal ones, then attach some flip up irons."

Can you please understand why I don't see this as a solution?

I have a Tavor. I don't want another Tavor. I wan't something lighter and simpler, but I want it to have the features it's supposed to have.

I do understand where you are coming from, they should have better Irons, but the FTU is what I wanted for a lower optics mount.

Regardless how good the irons are, a design with poor mounting capabilities is outdated in this day and age
