Hey Gents… so, evidently I’m not operating at full mental capacity as I cannot successfully mount a Scorpio T97NSR scope rail on my T97. One of these suckers:

http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=222_580&products_id=3219

When I attempted to install the scope rail, the front most set screw doesn't appear to align correctly on the mounting rail... the scope rail doesn't sit rearward enough to have both scope rail set screws flush on the mounting rail. The front set screw aligns directly on top of the vertical lip on the front of the mounting rail, resulting in an upward tilt of the scope rail upon tightening the front set screw. This renders the open sights unusable obviously, as the see-through channel doesn't align properly. With the rail flipped end-for-end, only one set screw aligns with the mounting rail.

I may be missing something painfully obvious with this, and perhaps all the late-night Red Sox games have rendered me mentally incapable of the simplest of tasks, but I was hoping someone could help me figure this out. Anyone else out there run into a similar issue or can point out what I’m doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance!

I too have this rail from SFRC. You loosen or remove the screws and slide the rail in from the front, then install the screws that push the rail up and the "dove-tail" mount of the rail is forced up and it becomes tight. Its not the best mount as it has the unwanted ability to be canted to either the left or right. the "floor" of the mount that you can see while using the iron sights does get in the way a bit but still good enough to get a decent sight picture. Hope this helps... :D

Thanks BCshooter... I've been following that thread re: the FTU. However, I'm not so sure I'm interested in making a permanent mod by having to cut down the sight posts.

Thanks for the info Major Sights. I'll give it a go again later this evening when I'm home. It almost seems as if the front most set screw hole is a bit too far forward, and I have the scope rail pushed all the way back against the rear sight post. When I put the scope rail on, the front most set screw hole lines up directly over the vertical lip on the front of the mounting rail:

This results in the front of the scope rail tilting upwards when the set screws are tightened.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the help!

Ahhh, mine sits further back so that the top hole that is closest the user is right over the rear iron sight aperture and you can see what setting you have them set at.

To ceilingcat, I believe it should hold zero as it has 2 allen head screws that hold it down with room for other screws, and the recoil of the rifle is so soft I felt like I was shooting a .22 magnum. It just holds the optic so high that its a chin weld for me.

thanks, I'm currently waiting for mine and ups lost my package.. sfrc did a trace for me we'll see what happens (apparently it takes 5-7 days from ups it's not sfrc's fault) but still =(

Mine sits back that far as well. What I perceive the issue to be is the location of the front most set screw - the "T 5" slot on the scope rail. It aligns directly on top of the vertical lip of the mounting rail I indicated in my previous post. Is this where yours aligns as well, or do both of your set screws tighten down flush/flat on the mounting rail?

ceilingcat - There is room for other screws... meaning there are alternate untapped holes in the scope rail, but you can't use them "as-is" out of the box.

I got the same mount, however my problem is I can't get it to sit flat. I am going to have to drill and tap the rifle factory rail and grind off that little nub to get the new mount to sit properly.
To the op, the screw on my rail lines up in the same spot, however if you inspect it closely, you will see the screws lift the rail up to where the dovetails are what give the rail it's alignment, so if yours doesn't sit cocked to one side, it should be good.

Thanks for the info, Marc05 - I did notice that, but no matter how I attempted to tighten the set screws, there is no way the rail would snug-up without an upward tilt. I've sent the rail back for refund and will shoot with the factory sights until a better optic mount option, other than the FTU, presents itself.
