Hi Guys,
Just a quick question ... my new T97 has arrived, but my experience with such hi-tech exotica is minimal. It's my third brand-new Norinco in almost a dozen years from the same shop. (The first ... a basic 1911 ... was immediately shipped-off to Armand Swenson in Prince George for his famous tune-up ... and ... a few years later ... their brand new unfired Nork SKS was unpackaged and cleaned and (most importantly) re-assembled and prepped by one of Alberta's smartest mechanical engineers/ranchers and his dad ... highly-motivated and interested ...
The great tiny little rifle-stock spent many many (OK ... dozens) of hours on a stool <just> in front of the window of my wood stove ... sweating-out the mystery-oil ... much cotton-rubbing ensued.
I've watched all the YT cleaning videos. The LGS (Local Gun Shop) used to sell CLP / Break-Free ... but forget about that ... supply-chain issues ... so I paid serious money (almost $30) for a can of my old friend (low-tech) G96.
Is it an acceptable alternative to CLP for the initial breakdown and clean? Swabbing (and then *mostly* removing) low-tech oily G96 through the virgin barrel is OK?
Major thanks (in advance) to CGN folks (who may respond) who have already hands-on tried something almost-exactly like this ...
