I have a T97 and have used a JR in 9mm a decent amount...
IMHO, the Jr is fun to play with for a bit, but in its Non-Restricted form I find it heavy, awkward, and bulky. Not something that I want to carry around for extensive periods of time. Yet the ammo is cheep and 10rnd mags are a plus.
I just picked up the T97 on Saturday and have 100 rounds through it. I have done NO modification to it other then cleaning it since new. I have the mag it came with as well as 2 of the black LAR-15 mags. I have had zero feeding issues out of the box. The safety and magazine release are in stupid/quirky positions but for me its a fun around the ranch possible hunting rifle not a battle rifle in its current "civilian" setup. It hardly has any recoil. I like the soft "mushy" trigger, its a bullpup rifle, not a custom target rifle with a $500 trigger and custom tuning... Its center of gravity is located behind the pistol grip so when I hold it out with one hand with no mag, it wants to tip up but is totally manageable to correct and hold it in place. When shouldered it feels like you can hold it there all day long.
Personally I would pick up the T97 if I were you because the round is more versatile as a target round or as a hunting round, and since you are in Ontario, you could essentially use that round on deer if you are confident enough in your shot (placement of your round is key). I myself took a deer last year with a Remington 700 in .223 at 120ish yards. 1 shot right through the heart and with pass through and through the leg as well. The optics issue raised by an above member can be "fixed" by T97.ca's new Flat Top Uupper, which removes the carry handle, adds a picatiny rail, and includes a non-reciprocating side charging handle. And finally it is a type of gun that REALLY pisses off liberals!
