T97 vs Tavor Threads Merged

I'm Ok, are you Ok? Now that we are all Ok, can someone comment on my sight aperture observation? I am willing to pay for a new one, I think these were buggered!

" Why is the aperture consecutively larger as you increase in range? Shouldn't it be larger at close range, where fast target acquisition trumps the need for minute accuracy gains, and smaller at longer ranges, to allow greater precision at smaller silhouettes? Is this a mistake, or am I missing something? I just think of Lee Enfield peeps, where the battle sight is bigger than the flip up long range peep..."

Oh, and I think the Tavor smells funny when you shoot it. Gassier than me after Taco tuesday...

One other thing to note on the Type97, As others have posted the rifle comes with the gas set to 0. IE grenade or single shot. Push down and turn. The slot on the gas plug is setup so you can use the base of a 223/5.56 cartridge in there and push down using that before turning. I just checked it out with a snap cap 223 round. Yes those weird claws are designed to grip the rim at the base of the round. Doesn't seem necessary but I guess if it's all gunked up then you might have trouble without using the round to adjust it.

Yes Short stroke piston is different. I guess I just don't put as much stock into a different trigger pack and a change in the piston system when the bolt looks like it came out of an AK. They Type97 isn't a variant or AK it's different enough. But to say it's not based off that system is ridiculous. That doesn't mean it's an AK or it's a variant. But the action is the heart of the rifle. Long stroke, or short stroke it is a minor difference. It should also be noted that the Chinese military version has an AK style magazine with an AK style release system where you rock it in.

Type97 bolt vs Valmet 308 bolt (confirmed 308 AK action, the only non prohibited AK action in Canada)

Your right, I must be mistaken. The operating systems I took a picture of doesn't look or function remotely the same.

Just curious where do you think the engineers got their inspiration for the T97 from?

Chinese Captured VZ-58 rifles in Vietnam! they are very inspired by this rifle.

Its a trap. There is a hidden firing pin ! :D

LOOK at my AVATAR 97a for a reason. i read the history of this rifle.

So your an Internet expert? If I believed everything I read on the Internet I'd have millions of dollars and increased the size of my manhood to 12 inches by now.

There's no denying that its a spitting image of the AK system.

minus the gas system, trigger mech, striker fired, buffer system, bolt carrier and sights. No ones arguing that the bolt head is not copied from the AK

No internet on this, one editor publish it. long stroke system like ak-47,pws ar-15, tavor push the spent shells all the way till it ejects it(piston and the rod and the bolt Carrier are ONE PIECE}. short stroke system like the type-97,vz 58 have a separate PISTON to push the BOLT CARRIER . 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT

Im not %100 sure, but im PRETTY sure its because the number associated with the aperatures is NOT the yardage they are to be used... its a measurement relating to the size of the aperture or the field of view you get with that aperture. Again, not %100 sure about this but I thought I did read it somewhere and it would make perfect sense. Chinese do things differently.
