T97 with FTU and 4X scope with 1 piece mount.

Bet Americans said the same thing about there norc now there paying 800+ for 20 year old nork m305

There's some of those on the EE ;)

I'm gonna shoot the hell out of mine so I'm not worried about it being a collectors piece. I bought it to have fun with and that's what I'm gonna do. It's not like I'm hacksawing the barrel off my colt python to 4.2" cuz I want a short barrel python.
Even if things change and no more guns come from china(not happening) I'd still be long dead before the value went up enough that I'd regret cutting up my rifle

Cheers

Why would adding the FTU hurt the resale? Its not like its going to wear out or break... and its not like it replaces any pieces that could be repaired if THEY break anyway. You can't replace the sights if, 25 years from now, the T97 is somehow a collectors item. Besides, its the same old story, did you buy the gun to enjoy it NOW or did you buy it to SELL it later. I bought this one to shoot NOW... I don't care what happens down the road.

Also, you guys who are talking about the scope being too high obviously haven't shouldered a setup like this. Lower isnt automatically better. Like I said in the first post, the height is PERFECT for me. Maybe not for someone with a smaller head (mines quite large, lol) but for me lower rings wouldn't be as good as this setup.

I agree. Mine in a pepr mount was very comfortable. My head is large as well. Lol. I'm just trying to decrease the HOB. I'm going to try it in low rings and in the pepr. If there's not a lot of difference then I'll probably go pepr.

I hadn't seen a setup like this yet. If one has already been posted somewhere, i guess I just missed it.

Obviously a T97 with the T97.ca FTU installed. Im using a JP 30mm one piece scope mount and Bushnell AR-556 1-4 scope. I started with a Burris PEPR mount but the nuts that clamp it onto the rail stick out too far and your hand hits them when operating the charging handle. The JP mount has flush screws so there is no interference.

Cheek weld is perfect, ergs for this setup are actually better than my Tavor with a similar setup. Of course, I'm not trying to say this makes it better than a Tavor, I'm just saying that actual optics placement and cheek weld IS better IMO.

Looking forward to the T97.ca lower thats in the works. Though I'm not at all unhappy with the ergs or lower on this gun as it is, the T97.ca part sure does look cool and theyre saying it will come with some other new parts that will improve the gun further. And, all for less than half of what a Tavor would cost new.

These are well setup indeed... I like the config. you have here!!

Hey pavementsurfer how do you like the bushnell AR scope? I looked around a bit for one and couldn't find any so I got the hi-lux.

Its a fine scope for the money. It survived on my AR and a few other guns and has never let me down. I have another one, higher end model, on my AR now. I get them from the US, your right, theyre hard to find in Canada.

I'm wishing now that I hadn't sold my Burris AR-332, I think it would match up well with the FTU set up.

How did you mount the AFG?

Looking good pavementsurfer!!! The FTU is a massive upgrade to this rifle! Looks like the lower is going to be even better.

I was running a trs-25. But wanted some magnification. So I picked up a hi-lux cmr 1-4x. It came with a pepr mount. Cheek weld was fine. But I wanted to try to decrease the HOB so I mounted it in low rings. Haven't had a chance to zero it and try it at different distances yet

You guys realize that somewhere in China there's a procurement guy looking at this and thinking - "if ours were like that we could get another 20 years out of this platform"
Which is pretty much what an American procurement guy said when he saw the first gunsmith flat topped AR.

I might just have to buy a T97 with that FTU upper now!!!

It makes the rifle look soooooo much sleeker than that damned ugly carry handle version.

Its not just good looks either. It makes the gun more useable in almost every way. Throw on a set of BUIS and youve lost nothing but gained ALOT.

X2!! It was like getting a new gun when I put my FTU on. Can't wait for lower! Its gonna be a game changer!!

Had mine out for a quick shoot this afternoon up in the woods behind my house. Never had time to go to range. Zeroed my 1-4x scope at 25yards. Just wanted to get it on paper and try it out. Really like the magnification. Everytime I shoot this rifle I like it more.
