T97NSR accuracy....

I bought a 1600rd case of the crap a while back. The SL8 and Tikka couldn't do better than 5 MOA with it. A Norinco M4 with an EO Tech and 3x can get 3 MOA. In comparison I get 2MOA out of the SL8 and M4 with any other ball ammo. More important is the fact that every 50rds I get a miss fire with the crap. 1 MOA is an unusual with any make of ball ammo, let alone Norinco.

I know I can google it , but... Is all the store bought ammo AE black box, hornady zombie, nosler Armageddon ,etc ball ammo? I know the diff between FMJ and hunting rnds..:) but not sure about ball ammo? Shhhh, not to loud.. Lol

No problem. Ball is just slang for FMJ.

I literally couldn't even sight in my tavor with norc ammo at 100 yards just laying prone no supports. Every ten round group had a different center and I was getting real pi$$ed. Thought my rail was loose or something, switched to black box AE and got an honest 3moa. Could probably get tighter using a gun rest or sand bags but that's stupid.

I have yet to take my 97 out to a range. I put the FTU and a optical sight on it and have rough sighted it with a laser bore sight. That being said what everyone needs to remember is that the 97 is a "military" firearm for all intent and purpose. The military on a whole does not care about minute of angle, they care about "minute of man"(mom). A 4 to 5 inch group at 100 m is well with in the requirments for mom. If you want a tack driver go with a precision rifle with a heavy bull barrel. If you want a rifle for fun well the 97 is just that.

I seem to remember people saying this was a 2moa rifle when we were just about to get them...
I also seem to recall people saying it had better accuracy than the Tavor...
Some Chinese propaganda pictures of 1inch paper groups (but at what distance?) were floating around too...
All of this has sure quieted down some now that people are actually shooting the thing...

My last time out was simply to sight in my cheap aimpoint micro clone with a 2MOA dot & I managed to get 3" at 100 yds.

I quite happy with mine.

If you put a scope on it and shot it properly, I bet the gun would be much more accurate than 95% of the shooters saying it is inaccurate.

IMO you should never ask how accurate a gun is on this forum unless it is a precision rifle in the precision shooting section of this forum. Otherwise you will just get a bunch of hearsay.

I disagree, some here actually do tests and post the results, including chronograph data and pictures of the targets.

People hear what they want. About half the answers here say they got less than 3" groups with ammo it liked, but that haters ignore those posts, and troll along. Now I have no problem with trolling, done properly, it's an art, but just saying something blows is lazy, lacks creativity, and is poor form. My HK SL-8 is horrible with MFS, don't know why, but shoots great with most other cheap ammo. Stupid, cheap Heckler and Koch...

I'm not saying the T-97 can't shoot. I've shot one and standing freehand at 100 yards I could ring the gongs no problem. Norc ammo is the problem with most guys rifles when they can't get consistent groups. The stuff is junk and is only good for making noise and shooting at things 50 yards or closer.

Yet I was ridiculed here many times, by some respected posters, when Ive said exactly that many times before about that particular ammo.

Your post here in this thread ridicules the gun, the owners and their claims, and makes no mention of ammo. Rifles can be finicky about ammo, and some ammo is much more consistent than others. This applies universally. The Norinco ammo is hot, cheap, and a bit inconsistent. No surprise. What is surprising, is how good the 7.61x51 shoots.

not in this thread about the t97, in the many other threads about the ammo.
my post doesn't ridicule the rifle, my post is the truth about the many other posts on the t97

Any time you want to bash Norc 5.56 I got your back.

Everyone is free to use whatever they like of course but I'm tired of threads with guys acting all surprised when their rifle binds up or won't shoot a decent group when they use the cheapest ammo available. There have been so many threads started with guys complaining about primers popping out, keyholing due to undersized projectiles, terrible groups, and so on. If you guys want to keep running it just because you haven't had a problem yet then go ahead. You can have my share. I actually know a guy in the Edmonton area selling a crate or two if anyone is interested.

So has anyone actually run any decent ammo through one of these disposable rifles and taken any pictures of the targets to show what it's capable of?

Or an AR15....which even a cheap run of the mill is capable of close to moa with good ammo.

I'll weigh in. Only because I own a scoped T97 (Nikon P223 3x32) and I have shot a couple thousand rounds of different ammo including ammo from 2 different cases of norc 5.56.

First was an 1120rd case of white boxed Norc 5.56 and second a 1600rd case of paper wrapped 5.56. The 1600rd case Norc is Frucking SH1TTY in my T97 while the 1120rd white boxed stuff is great (2.5 inch groups at 100 yds). Very foolishly, I bought that 1600rd case thinking it would function equally well as the first 1120rd case I purchased. But in fact, it shoots 5 inch groups at 50 yards. So inaccurate at 100 yds that it is not fun to shoot. Sucks 'cause I still have over 800 rounds of it left. Live and learn ...

Surprisingly, the 1120rd batch of 5.56 shoots better than AE tactical .223 in my T97. AE .223 way better in my .223 bolt action though. Norc ammo is pathetic is most precision firearms.

Try a box of that cheesy looking Zombie Max ammo. My T97 loves it. Shot a couple of clover leaves at 50 yds. Ran 3 full boxes/60rds. Never made it over the 100 yd range. Too bad I can't afford to pay over $1 per round ...

zombie max is the same as vmax, just rebranded with a green tip, actually very very good ammo, the vmax is the ammo that got my Tavor to 1.75 moa

Good Day ---- in reply to 180shooter

I had the same results with my Swiss Arms and Chinese yellow box 3inch groups at 100 meters with the beautiful irons she came with.
I can only hope it does as well in my T97 I just picked up.

Take Care
