Tac 21 finally together

Nice looking rifle, Once you ditch the Bushnell you're set :)
I don't think you need to switch calibers to go to 1000 yards since I was shooting my 20 inch Savage 1100 yards this summer with a Sightron 6-24x50, but if you do decide to change it up give Jerry at Mystic a call and ask him about his 6.5 Mystic. I have a buddy with one and it's definitely a shooter and can stretch way out there no problem.

I guess you've never shot a rifle with high end glass. I had an Elite 6500 and it disgusted me when I looked through it after using my Sightron, Trijicon or Nightforce. I sold it for a loss after a couple months.
I don't like shooting a couple of my buddy's rifles who have S&B and March optics on their long range rifles because I can see how much better they are than my stuff and I don't want to have to upgrade. It's hard to go back once you see the improvement in clarity and definition.
Bushnell 6500 is a mid level scope, you can definitely get the job done with one but there are much better options out there for long range shooting that aren't very much more money. A Sightron will cost you under $1000 and is not even in the same league as a Bushnell. The difference would be like going from a Bushnell Trophy to a 6500.

Easy Grandpa! Hehehe... I have a NF, Trijicon, and Bushnells. I like the Bushnell way more than the Trijicon. Was thinking of trying a Sightron next though. Nothing wrong with a high end Bushnell.

It's v block bedded into the chassis. No need to glass bed, or glue anything.
That is true but it took my gun from 3/4 to under 1/2 moa gun. Would you rather have an action be supported by two thin Long points or fully supported by bedding. The reason to glue in an action is to gain stiffness for hanging heavy tube off it/to do a switch barrel.

Oh yea? Since when V-block do not need bedding? Ask the chou brothers... ;)

V-Block can be real badly align. Mine before bedding was putting lot's of force ( bending ) to my action creating bad harmonics and the rear screw to come loose. Do I need to say how bad a loose screw can do on accuracy.
And it is a AIAX chassis...

Cheers.

To each their own I guess. Mine shoots fine without being bedded so I gave it no further thought. If it shot like crap I guess I would have looked into it more.

Just do a box test with it. If it passes you will be fine.

Bedding is something you can do in the future, its easy and only takes one winter night to complete. Its not going to make it worse. Don't hate the haters, they have no other outlet. :)

Nice rifle.... I almost built one at one time, but my Rem 722/AICS 1.5 keeps me shooting straight, and I just couldnt wrap my head around the action being inside the chassis like that, with the scope not actually mounted to the action. Like your color scheme as well.... stick with the .308 IMO. keep us updated on how it shoots;-)

Very nice setup!!! I'd stick with .308! Here's mine, I'm just waiting for the rings to arrive so I can install my scope!

I really enjoyed my Tac21 while I had it. Its a shame I had to sell it to help me buy my new Cadex rifle.

Nice rigs guys.
