TAC21 for Tikka T3?

I had the same issue with my T3 Super Varmint - be aware that the Picatinny Rail is epoxied onto the action as well as screwed. You will need to carefully heat the rail to soften the adhesive - use a blowtorch, but be careful - maybe 30 seconds of heat will do the trick.

I am looking into the T3 platform with this specific chassis.
From what I am reading, a varmint model w/o rails is cheaper and would get me up and running better than a tactical T3? (for the TAC21)
As for barrel threading someone like tac ord could take care of this (a reason why someone may chose tactical over varmint)

Yes, the straight Varmint is a better option than the Super Varmint or Tac etc. because you would have to remove the rail as I did - I had ordered my .300 WSM Super Varmint before finalising the chassis for my build.

Tikka certainly offer threaded barrels from the factory in Europe, but I can't speak for North America. Oddly, in Europe 20" barrels come threaded as standard, but 24" have to be a specal order for some reason.

I'm planning a .308 build next year, and plan on ordering a 24" threaded Varmint within the next few days, reckoning on a 4-6 month lead period of my .300 WSM was anything to go by (4 months).

BTW my T3/Tac21 is shooting 0.5 MOA with ease, abd the barrel has only had around 200 rounds so far, I'm expecting better to come. Shot it to 600 yds so far, but planning 900/1000/1100/1200 in the Spring.

Chassis for the Tikka T3 in long calibers will be available early 2015.
Note that these will require a custom magazine. The shortest AICS magazine is 3.715, which is too long. We are manufacturing these magazines now and should be ordered with any long caliber Tikka T3 chassis.
