Tac21 glass bedding?

Hey all,

I'm looking to have a gunsmith bed a Rem700 into a MDT Tac21 chassis. Action will be trued, Benchmark barrel with match chamber installed and then I wish to have it glass bedded into the Tac21 chassis. The catch here is I don't want the action stuck permanently into the chassis.

The end goal here is maximum accuracy so that I can ultimately use it in Fclass(es).

Thanks for any help with suggestions on who to call for such a job!
 
Ok. I'm sure you all know that V-blocks are a good thing but a proper bedding job is much better.
If you were going to try and compete with your rifle, would you really settle for something half-a$$ed?

My first outting at Nokomis this year will see my AICS chassis in its bare form. I'm hoping that by the May long weekend matches I can have it properly bedded as well.

Still looking for suggestions for the Tac21 but I appreciate your guy's confidence in the chassis on its own. This one, I believe, was number 17 on the CGN preorder way back when they first came out. I have had good success with it how it sits now, I just want to take it to it's full potential. I'm not aware of any other competitors using the Tac21 chassis and would love nothing more than to have it leave a few jaws on the grass when it does well. (Provided I can steer the thing!)
 
I'm wondering if the Tac21 has the same issue as the AICS where the front of the reciever and the rear tang need to be bedded as seen on this forum including my own.
 
8541 Tactical on YouTube did a review on the LSS system and said the system does not need to be beded....V block design is perfect. And he does more matches then anyone I have ever seen....
 
Although you might need to do some shipping, send it to the Chou Brothers. As much as V-Blocks are great a proper bedding job will make it even better. Even the venerable AI AW is bedding (albeit with epoxy permanenly bonded to the chassis).

The vblock design might be perfect but how about the receiver itself . There is no way they are both machined the same . Hence bedding the it
 
13 weeks takes it out for this season. Although if the Chou brothers were willing to take it on, I would probably have them do all the machining work.

I'm pretty sure I've heard him say in the matches he shoots ultimate precision isn't key.

V block bedding is better then nothing but a properly bedded action is very important. Even more so with a floppy remington action. :)
 
I plan on trying to properly glass bed all my rifles this year. When reaching out at longer distances or shooting for smallest groups, everything counts.
 
Coat the inside of the 'stock' with paste wax, clean the action with lacquer thinner or acetone, dry and place the bedding material on the rear of the recoil lug, the bottom immediately behind the recoil lug, and the bottom of the tang area. Do this sparingly, you don't need a lot. Assemble the screws holding the action in place, tighten very lightly. Let it cure. Then simply finish assembling and torque the screws tight. No need to take it apart.

Yes I do. He did the machining on my last two builds. I'm taking my AICS to him tomorrow to have it glass bedded. I will be asking him about the Tac21 while I'm there but I have some doubts about him wanting to touch that one.
