Tacical Solutions X-Ring

I can’t speak from experience but I’ve been to many PRS rimfire matches and seen a great variety of guns but have never seen an X ring. I have seen a lot of different platform semi automatic 22 rimfires and almost all are either modified Rugers or Dlask variants with every barrel, trigger combo. I don’t see any on the 1/2” challenge that are X ring but that doesn’t mean they are not a quality gun. I wish I could tell you more. I don’t think you will go wrong with a Dlask with good quality barrel and trigger. I have (assembled) built a number with Dlask receivers and parts both Dlask and Kidd. All have Kidd triggers and all have turned out extremely accurate. I have two that rival my Vudoo as far as accuracy. One in 22lr and one in 17 Mach2. Don’t know if this has helped or not!

Salty boy.

I remember a few years back when I was looking into them. The reviews had not been positive. Not amazing accuracy, but very light. Most of the reviews and comments had been along the line of a savage with a cheap plastic stock is as light and shoots better. So take that as you will... They are not very popular, maybe take that as a sign.

Just go watch youtube, most people don't want to talk smack about their 1000-1400 buck rifle. Even still they don't seem overly impressed.

Doesn't seem worth the bang for the buck.

I think the Tactical Solutions barrels have aluminum chamber faces? I’d be leary the chamber face would get battered after a lot of shooting. Both Kidd and Dlask lightweight barrels use a stainless chamber face. Probably be a better bet.

Strange coincidence. Had an inquiry from a CGNer about a custom Ruger/Volqartsen that I have for sale on the EE. He informed me he had just bought a Tactical Solutions off another CGNer , had to return it, because it was a single shot. I have done some looking on different gun sites and haven't really seen any glowing reviews or testimonials. Good luck Peter.Cheers Chris

My personal experience:

1) Dlask with 12.5” carbon barrel. Excellent workmanship! Accuracy is 1/2” to 25 yards then open up to 2” by 50 yards.

2) 10/22 with KIDD 16” lightweight aluminum barrel. Accuracy is 10 rounds the size of tic tac at 25 yards and 1/2” up to 50 yards.

Bench rested and tested all the .22 ammo available (cheap and expensive).

At our club one gent has the Tac Solutions. Extremely lightweight. Deadly accurate. I was told it’s cleaned once a year and is shot 100 rounds per week. It has a double recoil spring set up. It prefers normal velocity. I have shot it but not bench rested. I would recommend it.

Anyone try the Bergara BXR?

I had an X-Ring for about two years. Shot it a fair amount early on and played with some Eley and Lapua practice ammo. The gun taught me a lot about good bench rest shooting... Like mainly try to not touch the darn thing any more than I had to touch it for support. I was getting some pretty impressive results after a bit of MY training on bench shooting with this thing. Like sub dime size groups of 5 shots out at 50 yards. And I'm pretty sure that I was still part of the problem for not consistently producing small dainty cloverleafs.

Out of the box the trigger was pretty good but started to drift on operation. I took things apart to find out that TS had not used any thread locker on my gun and the adjustments that were pretty sensitive had wandered around. I found that it only took a little tweaking to go from not shooting at all in one direction to not shooting at all in the other. But in between there was a point where the trigger is AMAZING! ! ! ! Some Loctite and final micro tweaks and the rifle was performing like a champ.

In the end though I found that I preferred my quality single shot guns for this sort of accuracy work and my lever and pump guns for plinking and any rapid fire match work. So I sold it a while back.

Oh, and while I know this is very subjective I thought my forest green anodized X-Ring with green and brown Boyd's stock looked like ### on a stick with sprinkles compared to the basic look of a Dlask. But this is purely subjective by any stretch and YMMV.

I have a x ring out shoots anything I have owned including Dlask and other 10/22 variants . Not sure about the negative feed back from other posts mine will put 5 shots into 3/4” at 100 yds
