So mike from Canmore was kind enough to sell me back my cz858 and Ive been thinking about kitting her out for years now.

My main concerns are mounting optics (red dot of some sort) in a way that will maintain zero. And I want it to feel good, I shot a buddies fab defensed cz858 and it felt terrible compared to the original stock, hence why I've waited so long to customize it

So what rails and stocks are you guys using with actual range time down on them? AndI'm open to to any suggestions, and of course, pictures are welcome.

Myself I prefer the NEA handguards. Low mount red dot will lower 1/3 cowitness. Also running the Rauch tactical adjustable M4 tube adapter on that rifle. It's adjustable height. I see canadaammo has them. Not sure if they're Rauch but look identical. If you go with dust cover mount the adjustable height will come in handy.

On this one I have the stormwerkz adapter and AKFX folding stock. Very nice stock!! Vz58 scout scope mount.
Won't work with NEA handguards and micro dot. Would with BC tactical handguards, CSA low mount and dust cover mounts. It just can't get low enough without digging in my hand.

This one has a stock I ordered from Czech Republic. Very nice quality and rugged build. BC tactical handguards. Very nice quality. Lots of QD sling sockets. I really like them but they are too high to cowitness red dot and irons.

I Like the handguards for mounting a red dot. I had the low pro CSA side mount but didn't like the red dot that close to my eye but that's me. Lots of people have them and the dust cover mounts and really like them. Personal preference

I've run it like Lobster. That is my desired setup. I like an inline stock adapter with a Magpul stock. I prefer to have the red dot up front. Both the NEA and Fab/Zahal front rails seem to hold zero equally well.

I found dremelling off the part of the trigger guard, specifically the small section that protects the mag release, allows easy access to the original mag release lever. Never had a problem with that modification. Might be an something to consider for the magazine release.

Could you post a picture of the mod you made to the release area?

I can't speak to the Corwin railed covers but sure do love the NEA guards. Too bad they don't make them any more. I have to thank Funker Tactical for getting me hooked on NEA. I've held a few rifles with FAB guards and stocks and, while I never fired them, I sure didn't like the feel. Recoil-reducing stock? Come on.

If you can find NEA, grab them. BC Tactical is also a nice set up. Corwin is always awesome just because Martin is Martin.

My set ups:
NEA top and bottom guards with rails
TRS 125 red-dots
NEA ambi/extended mag releases
NEA bolt releases
Corwin ambi safeties
NEA heavy brake
Czech Special Forces hider/brake from Corwin
FAB grips
Original folder stocks

The only thing I would LOVE to get my hands on are perhaps the AK mag release and the old NEA left-handed bolt carriers. I bought one off a nut here and the charging handle on the thing came loose on the first pull. Right before a CQB match. And I didn't bring a spare. (side note - seller was super and refunded me straight away).

The fab defence aluminum quad rail works nice and looks sweet. Mine maintains zero just fine using a low profile red dot. It locks up so tight that removal is a PITA. you may want to switch to non-corrosive ammo if you go this route.

Also: for the love of god get a proper magazine release. I like ambi. But the extended models are nice too. Anything to replace the factory "secret switch" release

it a secret switch it must stay secret .... never really had trouble to shoot mine even with winter glove with the factory one !
