tactical bolt handle?

Not sure if they are <tactical>, as I never use my guns in a <tactical> way.

But I'm happy with the oversize bolt knobs that were installed by Allen Gun Works.

Yes but the OP specifically was asking about a tacticool bolt knob...............

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/69-Black-and-Green-Rifles

your right, the black and green rifle section would be better, not only that, but we've seen quite a few "where can I get a savage magazine conversion or tactical bolt handle" threads in here lately when they could have found that themselves by searching as there is already more then a couple threads in here regarding that.

I'm content with my butter knife savage handle without needing to get "tactical" about it anyways :p

Actually, it's the Precision Rifle forum he should look in. Not too many "black" or "green" Savage's out there, aside from the ones with a Krylon job.

I think your right, though it makes me wonder if we should have a "tacti-cool" section just for bolt on's or mods that achieve about at least as much of a cosmetic modification as functional.

And actually I wonder if the "precision" crowd will appreciate us sending the " where do I get my tactical bolt handles and magazines" into their target shooting rhetoric.

How hard is it to just answer the question? Honestly.

Why would he have to prove that he needs one to get an answer?

To the OP.

Give Mystic Precision an email. He will have what you need.

Savage makes 3 sizes of bolt knobs. The standard one, a varmint one and the massive tactical one. Its an easy direct replacement. All you have to do is undo the bolt at the rear of the bolt and change knobs.

Give a man an answer and you keep him content for a day, teach a man to use the search function and answer his questions for life (and free's the forum of the same questions in the same threads in the same sections redundantly)

Because most(myself included) that look in this section, don't know.

Nor do we want to, nor do we care..............hence the heading "Hunting and Sporting Arms"...........no sign of tacticool in that heading. One must assume that this forum is broken into different categories of interest so that he who has no interest in a given type of firearm doesn't have to wade through 100s of threads and posts completely irrelevant to his interests, to find that which interests him. All I'm suggesting is that these categories/boundaries be respected for the enjoyment of all.

You do realize that you don’t have to read through the threads that don’t interest you, right? How did you find your way into this thread?

A larger bolt knob has a place on a hunting rifle. Maybe he will be using the rifle in the winter with gloves. Maybe he wants to use the bolt handle as a kickstand. Either way, who cares?

Also, “tactical” rifles work just fine for hunting.

just traded for a savage 11 left hand in 223, where in Canada can I find a tactical bolt handle?

Do you want to replace the complete bolt handle or just the knob for a larger one?

I like Defensive Edge knobs as they are not so butt ugly large and heavy. This is on my 700 hunting rifle.

I don't know if Savage makes a left hand handle with an enlarged knob.
Replacing the knob is pretty straightforward, though.
It might be necessary to anneal the knob portion of the original handle.
Centerdrill the end of the knob so it can be supported on the tailstock center. Grab the collar in a 4 jaw chuck, and get the shank running true.
Turn down the knob, and cut the threads for the new knob.
