Tactical Levers

I like this one! :ninja:

I had heard said by a stateside trainer, (not sure the school , but a real one, not some fly-by-night) that in thier carbine classes the lever guns got excessively hot and would lock up. Once they cooled they were good to go but in a training session where you touch off 1500 rnds in a day this was an issue. He said that the semi-auto platform (AR, AK, M1/M14, SKS, etc) was best but a regular bolt action, (Rem 700, Savage, etc) while being handicapped by magazine size, were still a feasible option as they could handle the heat.

That being said in a zombie apocalypse:eek: (the most tactical of all situations) I like the idea of a magazine that can be topped up instantly. Detachable mags are fine until you run out :mad:but a side loading gate on a lever gun is "tactically" reloaded with loose ammo from your pocket.

While this discussion would seemingly fit better in another forum, I will drop in while its still open and not locked down.

While overlooked or looked down upon on depending on the audience, the lever action rifle or carbine has its place.

Most of that crap hung off the levergun in the first post of this thread adds nothing to its "tactical use" or practicality.

Having said that, most of the s**t that people hang off their AR platforms these days doesn't offer any real practical advantage either.

I would venture to guess over 90% of the forum members are purely firearms enthusiasts. So the all the crap added to your AR really serves no real "tactical" advantage does it?

So whether you think a levergun should be considered a "tactical gun" compared to your tricky AR or other black rifle is really a moot point isn't it?

So what then is the difference between hanging the same junk off a levergun as an AR? Nothing! It comes down to the interests of the user. I have no issues with how people want to spend their time and money. Want to hang a bunch of stuff your gun, by all means. No different that the guy that wants a custom pistol for $2000. To each their own. And please enjoy yourself in the process.

But for 99.9999999% of the folks here that aren't ever going to even use those tricked guns EVER in a """""tactical""""" role, please grab a ticket for the reality bus and have seat.

"Shriver's closest companion was a German shepherd he'd brought back from Taiwan which he named Klaus. One night Klaus got sick on beer some recon men fed him and crapped on the NCO club floor; they rubbed his nose in it and threw him out. Shriver arrived, drank a beer, removed his blue velvet smoking jacket and derby hat, put a .38 revolver on a table, then dropped his pants and defecated on the floor. "If you want to rub my nose in this," he dared, "come on over." Everyone pretended not to hear him; one man who'd fed Klaus beer urged the Recon Company commander to intervene. The captain laughed in his face."

Sounds like quite the character!
