Anyone have tac light mounted on their shottie? I have a 6P but not sure if I want to dedicate it to the shottie. What other solutions are you folks using? This is the home defense gun...

Try Choate Mount

"Once Upon A Time" Choate made a shotgun mount together with a flashlight that would withstand the recoil. Was adpapted to Remington 470 as mount adapted to two pins holding in trigger mechanism.
Check to see IF Choate still in business or not

I found this mount at Brownell's and use it to mount a Streamlight M3. It's made by Speedfeed and is easy to take off and put on. I like the flexibility it provides compared to an integrated forend light and it's very easy to use.

Where did you buy your Surefire forend?

Nobody in Kanada stocks them. They just say, it's on order, be patient.

If I was patient maybe I'd have more friends but who cares!

I just want one.

Like right now, you know, call the store, give em the visa # and receive the light.

Is that too much to ask for?

The surefire foreend should be in stock at TSE, and pm boltgun to see if he has any too.

I need one of those light thingys for my new Shotty (laser would be nice also).
I'd like it sidish mounted so the sling doesn't hang down in front of the light and block it.

Where can I get a set up like that in Canada, and how much?
Also an on/off pressure switch by the forarm would be great also.
:D

If you don't have fiber optics or tritium sights, (read: not spoiled like popcan!) having the light on the side can help with front sight aquisition at night. It will take a bit of experimenting to get the right amount of light hitting the sight post, but I find it is very nice.

With the light on the bottom I get a nice shadow of the front sight, which is sufficient for quick aiming at light colored targets. Since my main use for my shottie is black bear defence in a rural area with no other sources of light, it is important for me to be able to distinguish the sights from a black target as well. A bit of the glow from my side mounted surefire hitting the white sight post works great for me.

Once you have your light setup, make sure to practice with it at night. You'd be surprised how much the smoke will block your light for followup shots.

That doesn't look like the same mount as in that link???
It isn't. The one pictured in the link isn't for an 870. The one that fits the 870 is the SL 7003 which unfortunately Brownells notes is out of stock. A request directly to Speedfeed might locate one.
