Tactical/Modded SKS Picture Thread (can we sticky this?)

Wow. I know putting a grip on there is kinda sacrilegious, but I love it. I should pick up an AK grip and do it myself, because god do I hate the factory stock's holding position.

i have a spare plum ak grip from brownells ;)

Also,

Today is a happy day for me. I was lucky enough to find a ventilated handguard secondhand.

You know, We have our own Hical vented handguards, Canadian made, 3 styles, in stock HERE.

I really like the colors/balance on this SKS.. well done.

All those rails on top of the receiver cover didn't help for quick field cleaning of gun. SKS it's a army weapon and w/o be clean periodically you will run in trouble. So the rail on the receiver cover should be easy removable. That is why a prefer a simple design or placement of scope rail.

Here is my Type 56 in a combat exchange folder.

How does this compare weight wise to the wood stock?

Combat Exchange folder = 34.05 oz
Chinese wood = 24.80 oz (average)
Russian = 26.78 oz (average)

I always liked the combat exchange folder because it's a simple no frills..slim..compact stock when folded..and I can keep the spike on it. Some people find the stock hinge a bit wobbly.

Chinese beater in a Tapco. I Bubba'd the bayo lug off and did the bolt mod to have mags drop on a closed bolt. It's actually more accurate and has a better trigger than my Russian (even after a trigger job on my Russian.) I'll keep my Russian stock and this one as a shooter.
