I present the most bubba mod I have ever seen on an SKS.

Bubba was so considerate to the thought of destroying history he did it to three different rifles!

My 18.5 inch barrel ‘Light weight’ SKS project with Fab Defense stock. 8.5lbs with surefire light.

Kept it KISS and is currently my inexpensive, go to rifle. It is as lite it can get but does the job I think.

That might honestly be the single only aftermarket stock for an SKS that doesn't look like an absolute abortion of wasted plastic lol
And that is saying A LOT!
Cool setup. Looks light, slim, fast, effective and simple.

Alright boys I have a request. I have an SKS-D that's missing the ferrule on the gastube. Should I lightly mod it with say a metal cheese grater handguard or rebuild it from the bottom up? If i rebuild it, what additional mods would you recommend?

My modified Russian SKS named Sasha. Sitting next to a factory condition Russian.

Sashas almost finished, just gotta reinforce the stock coating, pillar bed the front locking mechanism, get the gun professionally blued and add in a bolt release.

Do you think you will see any improvement in accuracy by taking off all that bayonet assembly? Would this help improve barrel harmonics perhaps?

Thanks. Its hard for me to say cus i never shot this particular SKS much in its stock form. But from a logical standpoint id like to think it helps a tiny bit. The gun the way it is now seems to pattern just shy of 3 MOA.

Ive seen some factory condition SKS rifles shoot way worse then that, and others that shoot the same or even slightly better !

So far ive gathered that the 3 main influences on SKS accuracy are: Action fitment to the stock, barrel condition and ammo type.

Riflechair created some interesting videos experimenting with SKS accuracy.

You pretty much gotta remove the gun from the stock. Or one could pry it out using a flat head screwdriver.

Do you mean the 'gas tube' from the 'hand guard' ? There's pins that need to be ground and punched out.
