Tactical/Modded SKS Picture Thread (can we sticky this?)

Crappy picture as well but this is my bubba. I don't feel bad putting 300$ into a 160$ gun at all I love it and it's pretty accurate.(things were way cheaper when I put it together then they are now)

Tapco stock, magazine, butt plate
CAA adjustable cheek riser (flashlight front grip too but I don't use it anymore)
vented handguard
Bipod
A6 Muzzle brake from a CZ
Choate scope mount and UTG bugbuster scope (can remove sun shade to use stripper clips.)
fiber optic front sight and peep sight on the original rear sight (love that)

Ha ha my kids have the same jeep! What did u have to do to make that muzzle brake work?

It's Barbies but she let GI Joe borrow it :) My friends dad used to use it at car shows in front of his Willy's Millitary jeep.

Not much It's a CZ858 A6 brake(I bought it from a store that is nor closed but Dlask still sell it) in 7.62mm I threaded my barrel M14x1 RH instead of more common AK LH hand threads and used a crush washer or knurled jam nut from CNC warrior (got both I think I just used the crush washer) either allows you to index it properly.

Don't know if I'm allowed to say good things about them but I have nothing but praises for CNC Warrior. They're just a small shop in North Carolina, great communication and they'll help you with anything. I use them for most of my firearm projects.

If you are interested I can lend/rent you my thread alignment Tool (tat) and Die and Die handle. We can figure out some kind of damage deposit system or something.

SKS Fiberforce Stock Etc...

Here is my latest toy. Russian SKS 1953 in a ATI Fiberforce Stock with Custom cheekpiece. Not super happy yet. Still need the ProMag 5 rd mag and the Magwedge Rail (Don't like my current scope mount) The Cheickpeice is custom because I got the stock used and it didn't come with the original. I tried to get ATI to send me a new one, even buy one, but they wont send it to Canada direct to me. I tried a few ATI dealers here but they don't seem too interested in getting one for me either. So I got creative. Anyway thanks for looking.

Some clean mods/looking rifles and nice pics! I like the stock finish on that type 56 and overall photography on the one right above.

Very nice! I would would have used a different back drop though, the black rifle gets lost against the black background somewhat.

Looks like you put a bit of money into that Norinco. Turned out great!
Have you shot it? I ask only because it looks pristine and untouched.

ljones, that is a great looking SKS

Thanks Magdump. Yes I am pleased with how it turned out. Expectations were exceeded. EL34/6L6, The SKS was one of the new never issued ordinance from Marstar. It was covered in cosmoline and when I was finished cleaning it the bluing and bore were pristine. If it was shot it was by the factory to test it. I shot it for the first time today. This is a quote from a post on Survivor's SKS Boards of the rifle and the mods done and the results: (Not sure if this is allowed here but this is the link to that thread http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=124798.0 )

Okay an update on how she shoots. Man am I happy with how she performs. Those who say Chinese SKS's especially the pinned barrel ones are cheap crap that shoot bad are wrong! Mine is an all numbers matching late model Factory 306 with milled receiver but stamped trigger guard. Man can it shoot. I shot first at 25yd for sight in. Then moved to 100yd. Here are the targets (Details are marked in black marker upper right corner on each target):

Interesting that after the first scope adjustment the grouping printed almost exactly the same at 100yds as at 25yds after the first scope adjustment. Then I did 2 sets of offhand shooting one at 25yd the other at 100yd and the results:

Then for the sake of trying I got back to the bench and shot at the 300yd gong holding 2 dots down from my cross hairs. I put shot after shot on that gong no misses. I was ecstatic over the accuracy. Then to test how well the rail returns to zero after the pin is pulled and the rail lifted I took the pin out and lifted the scope a few times, put it back together and I placed my first shot at a random bullet hole at 100 yds 3/4" from it then went back to putting shot after shot on the 300yd gong. I was amazed as I wasn't the steadiest today and it was below freezing at the range and my hands were cold so I am sure I could wring even more accuracy out of this rifle. I will take the pinned Chinese SKS's any day if that is how they shoot.

Did you buy the retaining pin or you made it yourself? I also very interested in having such pin :)

The ati sucks. Clunky and cheap-feeling, feels like a toy. Heavy too!

I would agree. The ATI Fiberforce I have needed a lot of work. All the seams where the stock is molded together had lots of sharp edges etc... Took a while to smooth everything out. The intended purpose of mine was for the range and not to pack around, so the weight is not a factor. Besides I am a 300lb guy anyway so its irrelevant for me LOL!!!
