Tactical Operations F-51

It was a one of a kind custom rifle that was made for me by Mike Rescigno. It took two years to build because he that's how long it takes.

I had it imported by Questar.

I think it is 18 inches. Mr. Rescigno uses a reamer of his own design and the rifle is set up for the 168 Sierra Match King Federal Gold Medal Match load.

I use 44.0 grains of Varget with Lapua Brass and CCI match primers with the 168 grain Match King. The cartridge over all length is 2.800". This load is an exact duplicate of the Federal Gold Medal Match and both rounds shoot to the exact same point of impact

I honestly don't know what I paid for it. I paid in various installments over time. It is not a cheap rifle but it is even better than I thought it would be.

The engraving is done by hand with a hammer and chisel and you really have to examine the rifle in person in order to appreciate the level of quality involved.

Squinty,
Checked out your post on the Sniper Forum comparing your F51 to the Blaser.
Well written and no bias! Congrats on a well deserved rifle! Enjoy it! I'm guessing we won't be seeing it on the EE anytime soon!
What scope are you running on it?

The Blaser is a great rifle. If you want the best off-the-shelf rifle available, get the Blaser. But if you can wait two or three years, get a Tac Ops. Either way, you cannot go wrong.

You can order these rifles straight from Tactical Operations. Rifles for mil/leo are top priority coming out of the TacOps shop, as they are actually working rifles. This, combined with the demand for TacOps rifles generates the long wait times. For prices, call TacOps and discuss with Mike. He will tell you how much what you want costs. They are not cheap, but Mike R. puts meticulous work into them.

Mike/TacOps uses the remington 700 as their standard action. There really is no need to go with a custom action with their builds, as they know the remington 700 inside and out and do a damn good job with it. The reason behind this is that the LE agencies are most familiar with the remington 700 action - easy for the armorers to work on. The rifles have an accuracy guarantee of 1/4 MOA with FGMM ammo. Again, this is because LE agencies use factory ammo, most commonly FGMM.

TacOps uses Crying Eagle Imports to import the rifles into Canada. They are based in the U.S., out of New Hampshire.

She's a beauty!

From other posts I've read around the Web it sounds like they take a Rem 700P, cut the barrel down to 20" (if it meets Mikes criteria for work) then set the barrel back and ream the new chamber. The crown is a also re-cut to Mikes specifications and threaded for accessories. The action is trued up, machined and aligned as well as adding their bolt knob. Then they trash the trigger and take a stone to a classic Rem 700 trigger, set it to spec weight and install. I'm guessing they stick to all Remington parts as to keep the rifle "milspec"

Down in the states it was possible to send in your own 700P to have the work done for around $1500 US but the barrels don't always meet Mikes spec and he may replace the barrel at additional cost.

The 1/4" Guarantee had me tempted!

ETA: Not sure where in Alberta you are but I'd love to see that rifle in action one day. I'm going to be buying a membership for the range in Edson to try the dirty mile. .
