Hey all,
Am really diggin the whole tac-rimbine idea. Have been actively practising my pistol shooting with my 22/45 and having a ball. Need a carbine so was thinking of a stock 10/22 carbine(I'm really cheap, no SR22 for me!!:)), but with a twist; I picked up an under-folder from an AK47 along with all the bits that go with it. Am thinking of either cutting/re-shaping the stock right behind the grip portion of the stock, or right behind the action and fabing a pistol grip from hardwood then attaching the under-folder. When finished the carbine would look kinda like an M-1 para model. First off, is this legal? I would think so as there are folding stocks for 10/22 on the market. Secondly, how about some input?
Cheers!!!:D

so long as overall length stays greater then 660mm then it is legal, but a bit odd :p strangely I was thinking about doing the same thing to an SKS. The only problems I think may occur would be making the mounting point strong enough not to gall the hole or break the stock in some way and not allow the portion of the folder that goes through the stock to rotate inside its bore. Overboring the hole and building it up with fiberglass or epoxy prior to drilling it out to final I.D. would be a good idea. The other thing is how the stock locks - I dont know how it locks! If it has set points that it locks up at for open and closed positions, they may not sync up properly with something other than an AK (stock hitting rifle before locing up or hanging down too far when locked etc.) anyways, let us know how it goes, it sounds like a cool idea

The stock mech. has a cylinder that must be inlet into the side of the wood portion which has a pin through it to hold it in alignment. Its a little hard to explain, will try to take photos so everything is clear.
Thanks for the encouragement!!
Cheers!!
