Goal is to get a short (and as light as possible) tactical 10/22

Anything out there that is lighter than the Nomad in the tactical looking rimfire ? (from Hical.ca, the Nomad have this info: Ultra light stock weighs only 3 lbs.)

I was looking at the Archangel 10/22 556R kit but i think it weight something around 5.x lbs (metal over the Nomad polymer probably) and unfortunately they all looked bent a little around the forend/handguard.. maybe i drink too much rum but it seem that way in many pics.

I also sold my SR-22 cause of the weight.. after many hours it was getting heavier and my wife didn't enjoyed it.

The Nomad? marauder will weigh almost the same as a G36. About 7-8 lbs unloaded.
My friends is a beast with the light, laser, forward grip and full mag.
I went with the mossberg tactical and are switching to the Su-22.

Both kits are polymer.

The stock weight is added to the gun, so alot depends on your setup, especially barrel.

Personally if you want a light gun why are you adding all this crap?

Get a butler creek folder, and a stock 10/22, and call it a day. ;)

Totally agree, but I like having a cool looking gun. The su-22 is 4lbs total and is a trainer for the su-16. The mossberg tactical is 5lbs.

I dont want the lightest possible 10/22 .. I want a light tactical one And its not my first 10/22.. I want the next one to be cool looking.

I am talking stock.. Versus the weight. What type of barrel or gear i put in is not a factor in this question/thread

So far, the marauder seem the lightest option in the tactical options and the flip butler creek is not a tactical option in my book

Hmmm.... I looked at both the nomad and the archangel 556 and wound up getting the archangel because it was significantly lighter. I picked up both packages and compared them. I'm not sure why the nomad is supposed to be 3 lbs and the archangel 5 lbs.

Maybe they listed the Archangel as overall weight including the rifle and the Nomad as stock alone. Anyway, if you hadn't already made your purchase I was going to suggest the Tapco stock for the 10/22, it's quite light as well.

Its probably what happen, the nomad is showing 3 lbs without internal parts and the Archangel 556R included the weight of the 10/22. Even the promagindustries.com link to the archangel does not specify the weight of the stock. the approx 5 lbs info came from Mr Random average joe reviews of it on youtube.

Nomad is the new name for the Marauder, they are the same kit.

I think you could be the one to provide the final answer to my question, if you could weight it/or/them from the fact that you have access to both my favorite choice so far. could end up in a sale ;) wink wink wink

Have you looked at the T22 chassis? I don't know the specs but it's really light.

if the weight is in the ball park, could be a good choice.. as long as its under my old SR-22.. i would concider it (by the way, the adjustable buttstock and grip really look like the same as the SR-22 from the pictures)

more pricy than i would have paid.. but even the main website does not advertise the weight

Fair point.

You could build a mini-SOCOM replica using the factory wood stock, but I bet it would be close to the 3lb of the Marauder/Nomad with a UTG quad rail on it.

Never mind, I missed the 10/22 comment at the top

I also checked that Mossberg yesterday.. was not sure about the length since i am looking for a shorty that take 10/22 parts

But even then, according to my thread subject.. didn't found the weight of it so i am asking to community.. that is why i didn't suggest the Mossberg myself as an option to begin with

if your goal is lightweight, then stick a tac-sol barrel on it, the few i've held wouldn't hold down paper in a wind storm :)

having never shot one, i can't comment on their accuracy though

I've got the T22 chassis with a TacSol barrel and it is considerably lighter than the SR22's I have handled though I have never owned. I think even without the TacSol barrel it is still quite a bit lighter than the SR22.

The weight of our High Caliber 5 item 10/22 combo, fully assembled, with the setup you see here is 6 lbs, unloaded, 27 1/2" OAL, non restricted. Hard to beat this build!

According to Ruger.com.. a regular synthetic black 10/22-RPF weight 5 LBS.. seem pretty good at 6! Ruger also said a naked SR-22 is supposed to be 6.50 LBS so its not that far away.

My old SR-22 with full dlask top rail, magpul sights and a spark reddot had a weight of 7.2 LBS and was too heavy for the wife.

All i am missing is numbers.. someone to go weight their Nomad/Marauder kit with a simple 10/22 in, without other gear on. That would help me close this case. Then i will meditate on everything that was said here. (and thank you so much for your help, as usual)

I weighed my Marauder/Nomad 10/22, and it came in at precisely 6.52 lbs. - identical to a real H&K G36. Of course, mine is built on an early, all-metal 10/22, which might make a difference...
