Took the 597 VTR amd the SR-22 to the range today. Could only fire about 100 rounds each cause of the rain and wind but here are my first impressions:
1. 597 VTR:
- The 10 round factory mag only holds 8 rounds, last round doesn't feed.
- 30 - round factory mag feels stiff (very) to load in the beginning but is a charm after a few cycles
- with the aftermarket hammer and extractor it feeds even the cheapest ammo and trigger is super smooth
- very accurate
- fairly quiet compared to the Ruger
2. SR-22
- I don't know how many 25- round mags I have, they are cheap and plenty and can be loaded very easily
- is nicer than the VTR
- is louder than the VTR
- more accurate than standard 10/22
- trigger needs improvement, kind of stiff and hard to break compared to VTR aftermarket
- 10 -round mag fell out a few times after I inserted it, no problem with 25
The SR-22 is the nicer gun, a lot of aftermarket stuff and magazines available, the VTR, especially with the V.. hammer and extractor is smooth as silk and more accurate.
Wasn't done with testing, both are nice guns and complement each other.

and to finish up my gun, minus the fact that i have a blown extractor, this is (at this point) the last accessory i will put on for now. I want a single point sling but dont have anywhere to attach one!

and still have on order, a new sight mount so my MBUS backup sights can be seen through the sight.

i believe it was you that sent me a pm about this.. well for everyone else.. check out ebay on some things, check out ###yweapon.com it has only magpul stuff right now and it ships to canada they even have some deals going on right now (10% off, etc) and bullgator tactical (google search) has magpul plus other companies such as command arms, magpul, mako, tapco, voodoo, etc.. i would have to say that ###y weapon is a very good sight to choose from and they have a great selection (only magpul though since thats all they sell right now). both sites ship to canada, i was a little skeptical when ordering my stock since stocks arent allowed to ship to canada so i told the guy to say it was an airsoft part which is still a little sketchy but worked.
