Tactical rings?

I'm running a set of Leupold aluminum rings on a couple of my hunting rifles. They are as low as I need for the 2.5-10X24 Nightforce I am using a with them.

I am also running a low profile aluminum picatinny base....which helps.
I still get a decent cheek weld.

What makes rings "tactical"? I suspect that they contribute nothing to accuracy and simply cost more than conventional rings. Why not simply buy regular low rings?

I've had to lap the crap out of every set of badgers I've owned. I switched to a set of Nightforce rights the other day and WOW,,,, fit and finish was head and shoulders above. NF will get my business from here on in. To bad they don't make 34mm rings.
