that is to say, what can/have/has anyone done with 99s to make them look less crappy (yeah yeah, 99 fans can settle down please...).
I keep thinking a 308 99 would be good for blasting around with, but they just don't seem ready for a picatinny rail, Ar15 style stock, 16 in barrel and synthetic furniture.
That all said, I am sure someone has taken the bedliner to one, and maybe a nice rail... how about some pics?
Anyone know of any good aftermarket parts for them?

Someone on this board must be good with PhotoShop.
I've got the better part of a 99C at home that would look great with a Tango Down foregrip and collapsible stock (how that would work, I have no idea)!

This is a whole new level of ugly. :D

I keep looking at the 99s that show up on the EE, in 308 at good cheap prices, seriously, someone must have some ideas on making them a little more butch???
I have a pile of 308 to burn, and a 99 seems the cheapest route :sniper:

A 99 could be fashioned into some sort of quasi scout rifle, and its size and chambering already meet the arbitrary requirements. A weak link for the 99 IMHO has always been the cheap stocks, at least in the later models. A good quality fiberglass stock would be a plus, although I don't know who could be encouraged to make one. An after market barrel with a scope mount for a EER scope or a reflex sight, a ghost ring receiver sight and post front sight would complete the package. Appealing bake on finishes are available, they are super tough, and are not so crude as bed liner.

Hadn't thought of the EER (past experiences weren't great), but that would put the optics ahead of the ejection port at least. I agree on the stocks, they and that curved reciever are the two big weak links. The forestock was always to small, and the rear was usually crap. A synthetic stock would make sense, and maybe an EER, or Battue style rear site....
