Hi folks,
for my fourty's I would like to take a tactical shotgun training course. I'm not an operateur or law enforcement, just a shooter that enjoy this platform and want to learn. I look in the US for some reputable school but they seem to say non US resident are not welcome.

So, I'm looking in Canada. I'm from Quebec and willing to travel about anywhere if necessary. I own a 870 14'' 12 ga shotgun with sidesadlle, bead sight, flashlight and sling. I'm not a bad shooter at the sand pit!! loll

What I'm looking for:

- A one or 2 days (maybe more) course
- Learn safety, tactical reloading, shotgun handling etc etc
- a place where I will have fun shooting and learning; so no place where it's like in the Army....
- I'm a quebecer that speak french as first language. I understand really good english but I'm far from being perfectly bilingual. So, I hope it will not be too difficult for me to adapt with the people and the instructors!!
- I want to have a good FIRST experience in a training course!!!

So, I would like yours suggestions about what I'm looking for. Actual experience is better!!

Thanks

If Las Vegas is an option, check out Front Sight. You do not have to be a resident and it is a fun, relaxed, top notch training centre, and the biggest in the world. Check on ebay for a four day first time guest voucher, they go for around $100 for a coarse that would cost "$2000".

Vegas IS an option. I will look at this place. Did you ever go there?

I took a four day defensive pistol class there and I was very impressed. And can't wait to go back. Their website had lots of good info.

and did you rent your gun? Can I go there with a 870 18.5 barrel (I have a 14'' at the moment but no problem to change for a 18.5 for the course)
What are the requirement for the course? Permit etc

If you're ever in the lowermainland, check out xarms.ca

I have done multiple courses with jason and he is a great guy, and has excellent qualifications.

Let him know john sent you!

I took the coarse a few years ago, I had been shooting for years but it was my first time shooting pistol. There is wide range of skill levels at the coarse and they have enough instructors and drills to tailor to everyone. My favourite was the live fire drill of clearing a house. They have rentals but bringing your own is fine as well. There will also be a $50 charge for a back ground check.
