Tactical SKS Rear Sight Rail

I've searched a bit and found no one using this rail.

I would like to use a red dot on my SKS.

Anyone ? Comments ?

There are a couple different manufactures of these types of rails. I was going to originally get the BC Tactical SKS Scout Mount which is very similar to what you are looking at. The research i found was that if you use a scope or a red dot that if the lens is close to the chamber there is a chance a ejected shell can smash the lens. I tried to find the post from a different forum that had a picture of what can happen but can not find it. Also with this mount depending on the length of the scope/red dot you can not lift the latch that holds your gas tube in place to remove it to clean so the mount or scope/red dot will have to be removed thus losing zero.

This is what i ended up doing. I bought a NCSTAR receiver cover mount with the set screws on the side thinking it would be ok, well long story short it was a P.O.S. and threw it out. So i found the Magwedge Kwik Rail and got it from Wolverine Supplies since i wanted to use a scope. The rail has a shell deflector built in so it doesn't hit your scope/red dot and you can remove the receiver pin (that is supplied with the kit), flip up the mount, clean your rifle, flip it back down and will be very close to zero.
The only downside to this rail is you cant use stripper clips, but i am getting some detachable mags so it doesn't bother me.

Hope this helps

P.S. if you want to find more info on the style of mount your looking at just google SKS SCOUT MOUNT.

Hi, Not sure about the one you have listed but I've tried a few different options. I like this one the best so far. Pins located in the rail for repeatable zero when removed or 2nd optional rail/optic. Change the rail with pins, leave the mount on if you want to remove it. Not much need to take it off though. Great quality, nothing you can't change back, and doesn't leave any marks. I spoke to the company a few months back, nice people.

Thats the one i was looking at picking up. How is it for removal? What reddot do you have on it?

To be honest, I was looking to replace my magwedge rail on my SKS.
I would like to be able to use stripper clips and remove some bulk that the rail adds.
Also repeatable zero + able to clean the rifle easily.

Can the CanAM rail be removed easil for cleaning without losing zero ?

Hey all. That scout mount fits in the channel that holds your OEM rear flip sight. The OEM piece has tobe removed (easy) then it slides in. Cross pin through the block and reciever (OEM hole location) to hold it in and an adjustment for elevation. In the side pic I posted there are 4 allen grub screws (4 each side), the 2 on the bottom are locator's, touch the side of the gun under the new sight block to lock it in place. The 2 on the top are to remove the rail from the top of the block, loosen them and the rail lifts up and off, guided by 2 pins that have no free play which maintain the zero. There is also a groove cut into the top of the rail block to use as a rear sight if the rail is off. I'll take a few pic's and post later today.
