makes getting an sks seem not so bad, just need to find a dealer in canada thats all!

found this on ar forums

IMHO that is Uber nice. :)

Looks like it might have been a Yugo SKS once.
Depending on price...I'd buy the kit to built that.

These are available on ebay for around $71 US, and many sellers are perfectly willing to ship to canada without an export permit (which is highly illegal). Obviously we don't discuss or condone illegal activities here on CGN, so one must be aware that the aforementioned course of action is illegal, in order to make an informed decision.

As far as the stock itself is concerned, I agree with everyone else, they are damn cool :D I dunno if I'd shell out for one, though. There was a thread on these a while ago with pics, and a new guy posted pics of an OD green one in yet another thread, so obviously many people think they're worth it and pony up the dough. One thing to watch out for (from what I've read/heard) is that the SAW pistol grip is attached to the stock with a large lag bolt, which threads into the plastic of the stock. This could probably be fixed by epoxying in some kind of threaded insert, but it's a sore point for me nonetheless. That, and the price

I thought these stocks had an integral (albeit plastic) 20mm rail on the underside of the fore-end, for mounting tactical foregrips and flashlights and junk? I could be thinking of something else, but I coulda sworn that was the case. Can anyone confirm this?

I love SKS's but this particular furniture just doesn't fit it. The ratios are all wrong. When I first saw it I was excited too but the more I looked at it the less I liked it.

If I had to give a really simplistic explanation I'd say that the mixing of the two looks, the soviet look and the american look, just doesn't work.

Well, they brought the M14 rifle from the dead with a 'tacticalized' SOCOM version, it would be fair that someone do the same with the good ol' SKS. :)

I don't much care for that furniture myself, it dosent seem to suit the sks IMO. I would just stick to some nice wood maybe modified a little, that would keep me happy.

With soft or hollowpoints, the SKS ought to make a perfectly acceptable 'tactical' SWAT weapon. The fact that no one does it proves nothing.

I kinda agree actually, "tactical" is the wrong word to use. How "tactical" can any SKS truly be, even with fancy plastic furniture? Lemme think, what's another good word...zombie-capable? Try inserting "zombie-capable" in place of "tactical" in any sentence describing the SKS. It makes me happy, I can tell you that much :D

I love the SKS , the tan looks really good on it .
The scope mount is a P.O.S. , had two of them .
The stock just doesn't speak to me , it's different , but... is that good ?
I kinda prefer the dragonov style or side folder . played with a Yugo last week and it had a really nice wood stock , no comparison to the Chinese one .

Well when was the last time you have seen a SWAT team equipped with SKS?
Nuff Said :)

What an American SWAT team uses isn't a reflection on what is or is not "tactical" in the firearms world...and keep in mind allot of these choices are based on who bid the lowest in the contract, and or made the best sales presentation to whatever Police agency.

Besides I have never seen a SWAT team that has allowed it's members to equip themselves with what each member prefers, they get issued stuff, and the practice with it, and learn to like/love it.

Methinks the SKS above would look better in OD...or even dare I say a Mossy Oak pattern. :)
