Tactical Slings

I'm not sure what you mean by ''tactical'', I use a GEARSECTOR single point with an adaptor (sadly not BBB) for my 870, the are as good as it gets, he use tubular webbing and the tri-loop (triangle where the 2 end of the sling and the weapon stub are attached) makes a huge difference from the other single-point I've seen.

Yeah, you kinda threw me too when you said "tactical slings".
I like my single point sling on my 870. Its just so comfy and easy to bring up or swing out of the way. You kind of have to keep a hand on the gun when you are walking or it swings around but aside from that its all good.
The main reason for using it is so that you dont have to bring it down off your back when you want to shoot. Its already right there for you to use. So while out for a long hike, it does get a bit annoying, its quicker to get at.
but this one pictured above looks nicer than mine. That triangle piece probably makes all the difference in the world.
There are other slings that use a bungee cord too. I dont know what those are like to use. It would be good to hear from people on that one.

When I had the shorter barrel on my Maverick 88 I carried it muzzle down, and on the left shoulder with a standard sling. Worked fast enough for me, just draw from the bottom..left hand is already on the forearm.

I have played a bit with a 3 point for carrying a shotgun while working in coastal BC bush and find it doesn't hold the gun close enough to my body, it gets in the way and flops around more than I would like, maybe I am just not setting it up properly. I will try it out some more to see if I can get it to work.
The other thing that I recently tried was a custom made backpack type scabbard much like the 'grizzly scabbard'. It was both over top and underneath my cruiser's vest and wasn't too bad to carry around all day. The shotgun had a 12.5" barrel so the gun didn't stick up above my head to get snagged on every branch in existence.

For the 1,2 and 3 point slings, they should be going over your strong shoulder and under your weak arm. In 2 and 3 point this will hold the firearm very close to your body, and almost verticle. The buttstock will be up by your shoulder instead of flopping around down by your waist.

Hi Farmboy, thanks for the tip. I have tried both ways, the extra slop comes from the section of web that attaches the sling to the stocks, there seems to be a few inches of extra web that causes it to flop about. I will try your suggestion again to see. Ideally I am looking for one that will hold muzzle UP, or at least horizontally ( I am often knee to waist deep in water) and close to the body but still easily and quickly put into action. It may not be a possible setup, I don't know too much about the slings since we usually do not use them. I will contact you via pm in the New Year to better decsribe what I am looking for, maybe a breacher with some way of securing the muzzle at the weak side shoulder?Farmboy said:

I have been using blue force gear slings purchased from farmboy, bar none they are the best made product out there and with just a cheap adaptor change the same sling can be used for every long arm you own.
