Tactical Solutions Threaded Barrel

WHOA, Babyseal, sorry if I came across as rude, I'm just excited to finally finish my new toy!!:)

Are you saying that you think there is a conspiracy against you personally from someone at Canada Customs or do most of the Barrels ordered not get delivered to Canada. I don't really know, it's the first Barrel I've ordered, but probably not the last!!:)

Where does it say that the Barrels are not permitted to be shipped to Canada??

As for your offer, I guess I could use another $50.00..........;)

Barrels, bolts, recievers, etc are all in the same class according to the ATF and are banned from export from the US. Rimfire seems to get away with it alot somehow. Its on the brownells site if you want to dig for it. I am just on my way out the door right now.

Customs has my name flagged because I order ALOT of firearms and parts. (Mostly Parts) I have had more than one struggle with them so unfortunately I have had to learn some of the rules.

Its not just Canada customs you have to appease, but US guys too.

They cant catch everything though. Nobody could.

If you want to take my friendly $50 wager though. I am still game.

I have to agree with aaron416, I just got back from the Post Office with my package and had no problems at all !!!!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

What a piece of craftsmanship that Barrel is, OH MY G:eek:D !!

the barrel is awesome, i have mine dialed in and im hitting 22 brass casings at 50 yards no prob. i will take some pics this weekend and post them. we should make a Post your 10/22 pic thread :shotgun::dancingbanana:

Hey guys, don't start a fight here...

I think that BabySeal is right too. It just happen that sometimes, customs don't do their job or maybe can't look at all the box that pass in their hand. Some of you are lucky to get their items but maybe some other are not... I'm happy for Walt that he get what he ordered.

Hey Babyseal,

You seem to have the air of confidence, the kind that comes from experience, lots of experience!!

As a very good poker player once taught me, "If you smell experience, walk away, just walk away FAST!!!!!":runaway::runaway:

Hey guess what, I think I'll pass on your offer, I uh... have enough money, ya that's it, I don't want to be greedy. :) I'll let Can-down have some.;)

Thanks for the heads up!!

I am happy for you that you got your barrel too. And that you have chosen not to take my bet.

I dont want to see any legal gun owner get screwed over.

I dont need a barrel either so even if I got one I wouldnt have a gun to put it on.

But if the "Yo Baby" guy wants to gamble I am still good to go.

Maybe this will be the one that breaks the curse. Who knows.

Yo, BS

I'm not really sure what your bet is all about.....You want to bet that every package that has your name on it coming from the US gets opened?

I was only trying to point out that .22 rimfire barrels seem to cross the boreder easier then centerfire barrels......not sure why thou.

Please allow me to reiterate.

Barrels, bolts, recievers, etc are all in the same class according to the ATF and are banned from export from the US. Rimfire seems to get away with it alot somehow. Its on the brownells site if you want to dig for it. I am just on my way out the door right now.

So naturally alot of stuff slips through. But they know that with certain people they are going to have a higher probability of something worth checking so they flag people's names. Crooked or not that is the only explanation I can come up with for the frequency my stuff gets delayed for up to a month while they play with it.

Thats why I said...

I tell you what. I will pay you $50 on top of the cost of a black 16"bbl with compensator.

You order it, put my name and address as the ship to address and make sure you get a shipping method with a tracking number.

I'll pay you when the shipping tracker indicates I took delivery.

If I am wrong, you get an easy $50. If I am right. You gain an understanding of how customs works.

When customs checks something they open your parcel and play with it. They check it over in their books to see if its something that you are not allowed to have. Sometimes the agent interprets things different than previous agents did and sometimes not. But basically its a crap shoot with terrible odds.

Come on, some of you guys do stuff like this all the time. Someone's got to know FOR SURE!

Brownells section on international orders makes it sound like its their policy, not a federal regulation.

Gun Parts: Fees and Licenses
Many of our items are classified as Gun Parts. There are many strictly enforced rules that go along with these parts.

A Gun Part is “any item necessary to the operation of a weapon”. Many parts fall within this category, such as triggers, magazines, grips, actions, pistol frames, and barrels.

Shippers Export Declaration Fees (SED)
An SED is required for all gun part orders and export license orders.
Export License Fees
An Export License is required for all Gun Part orders exceeding $100 (U.S.). Export licenses are issued by the U.S. State Department and may take between 30 and 40 days to receive. An Export License is will be required for each order.
Orders requiring an Export License will be shipped BAX Global or Parcel Post. Neither UPS nor FedEx will deliver these orders. If you wish to use a different freight forwarder, please list them when you place your order. Freight forwarders, besides BAX Global and Parcel Post, require an initial set-up fee of $50 (U.S.).

All actions, barreled actions, pistol frames, barrels, barrel liners, and cylinders (even if their price is less than $100, will require a United States Export License.)

The ATF website talks alot about restricting the exportation of firearms, defined thus:

For the purpose of this chapter--
(a) Firearm. The term 'firearm' means
(1) a shotgun having a barrel or barrels of
less than 18 inches in length; (2) a
weapon made from a shotgun if such
weapon as modified has an overall length
of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels
of less than 18 inches in length; (3) a
rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than
16 inches in length; (4) a weapon made
from a rifle if such weapon as modified
has an overall length of less than 26
inches or a barrel or barrels of less than
16 inches in length; (5) any other weapon,
as defined in subsection (e); (6) a machinegun;
(7) any silencer (as defined in
section 921 of title 18, United States
Code); and (8) a destructive device. The
term 'firearm' shall not include an antique
firearm or any device (other than a machinegun
or destructive device) which,
although designed as a weapon, the Secretary
finds by reason of the date of its
manufacture, value, design, and other
characteristics is primarily a collector's
item and is not likely to be used as a
weapon.

That ATF reference is for entire firearms.

The underlined text from Brownells is almost verbatim from the section of code they sent me when they siezed a 16" 1911 barrel from me a couple years ago.

I fought it and lost. At least they explained why.

After getting your peepee slapped by Canada Customs for importing nasty items you will be flagged and have all your parcels held and searched for the next year or so, even longer if you persist in ordering gun parts. Have your #### sent to a buddies house or quit ordering gun parts from the US for a while.

Rimfiresports does not hide that they ship to Canada. I would think that they are a sizeable operation and would not break the law. Duty is another matter, check the little green customs tag on the box and see what they sent it as......:)
