question: why use 4140 steel for the bore lining, and not stainless steel. More importantly: is this going to be a problem in maintenance? I don't like the idea of extra maintenance to keep rust out of the bore?

What do you think? Is it an issue?
 
Yes - but the question is about the barrel bore. Is using 4140 steel an issue for rust prevention? All my rifles are either stainless steel or chrome lined, so wondering if I have to do extra care?
 
shouldn't be a problem. There are millions of carbon steel barrels out there, that are not pitted or rusted or compromised. Stainless will rust if you abuse it. Just treat it well, and there won't be a problem. In fact, I wonder if shooting lead bullets down the bore doesn't actually deposit some love in there that might help mitigate corrosion.
 
I wonder what trigger group they have in this gun... They talk about their barrel and receiver, no mention of the TG... It would be pretty disappointing if they reverse engineered the Ruger TG... If it had a Kidd or RT TG, then I would say it is well worth the $1200... In part value alone... The Tac-Sol barrels are not known for accuracy though... I had one and got rid of it due to 2 MOA grouping...
 
I have had only problems with the TacSol barrels in my old 10/22. Every round was a hard extraction and made shooting it no fun. Got rid of it, will not buy another TacSol barrel again.
 
I'll stick with my Volquartsen, with a stainless receiver, and a stainless barrel threaded into that receiver. It may not be lightweight, but it is extremely accurate, and it will last a lifetime.
