So I want to build a tactical shotgun.

I am thinking(Due to budgetary constraints and a cranky wife)of something relatively inexpensive to start with.

I kind of fancy the Winchester 1300 Defender 8 shot. Fiber optic sights, 8 round capacity, being the primary things I like about the gun...stock I don't really care about as I am going to put on an after market one.....

Planning something simple.

Tactical light at the barrel, and I also fancy an Eotech holosight on the top.

So what do you experts think? Good, bad, better? CHEAPER??

I am thinking that for the price I can get a 1300 for I can't go wrong.....

So lets here it :D:D

The Remington 870 has the most after market part and is the most commmon shotgun, it's also super reliable! Plus if your on a budget you can buy a Norinco for 2/3 the price of a remmie and hot rod it up, and when you get the money sell the nork and swap the good parts and your done:)

Here my 870.

If you want to go cheap - a mav 88 is a good choice - lots of toys made for it and only 200 bucks. (mav is owned by mossberg - the barrels for example are interchangable between the 500 and the 88)

If you can save up for the mossy, that'd be a nicer gun. but lots of guys like the 88's.

So I went to Wholesalesports today..

Ugh.

Okee....they dont have anymore 1300's and dont figure to get anymore.
They didnt have a 590, and wont bring one in unless I pay for it(Understandable)

I went to a different gunstore and all the guy had was a Remmy 870 police. It had a Butler Creek folding stock(with built in shell holder) and he said it was a new police edition 18" holds 7 and one in the chamber. Parkerized finish.....$600

Looks like this only it has a BC folder and doesnt have a heat shield.

So, good deal? Should I? Should I order a 590A1??

Whattya think??

Wolverine have a decent used 870 worth looking at. It's got a two round extention and a side saddle installed.

Benelli nova is a pump, but not too much to dress them up with.

Indeed, but if you look at the tactical version...it doesn't need much of anything else. It is pretty sleek.

You just missed one (Benelli tactical) it went for $450 on the EE (I know, I was pondering it). If the Benelli Nova floats your boat, the Stoeger P-350 looks the same/sort of (I have yet to shoulder both, to tell you the difference)

:D

I liked the looks of it, and l know the respectability of the 870. I sure didnt think alot of teh BC folder tho...but then I am not a big fan of the poorly fabricated BC products!!

I want to put a Knoxx COPstock folder on it....but I need to know if it will fold over and EOtech holosight??? ANYbody know this answer?? I even emailed Knoxx Industries and have yet to recieve a reply...

Find a cheap Remington 870, send it to Tactical Ordnance. They can cut the barrel, parkerize and teflon coat it, and add a magazine extention to match the lenght of the 18.5 inch barrel.
