Find a cheap Remington 870, send it to Tactical Ordnance. They can cut the barrel, parkerize and teflon coat it, and add a magazine extention to match the lenght of the 18.5 inch barrel.

+1.

That is what I would do if I decided on an 870.

Hi,

SIR Mail Order has the Mossberg 500 Persuader for $272.99. It comes with synthetic stock, cylinder bore and eight shot mag.

It sounds to me like the cheapest non-Norinco option in a new shotgun.

Cheers,

Frank

I don't know the most about shotguns, but I have a 1300 Defender.
I like it. it's holds 7 rounds (2-3/4") in the tube & 1 in the chamber.
so, you really don't need an extension with that many, but you could.

It's reliable as any other model out there, it's cheaper, why would these other guys want to spend more ? ?

I'm getting a advanced technologies 6 pos. pistol grip stock for it. & heat sheild w/ ghost ring & front sight. mine is an older one with no front sight (just a bead).

I have a Tasco red dot on it right now, w/ a saddle mount it, you could put a Eotech on it i guess.
Most aftermarket stuff is usually good for the 870, 590 or the 1300 anyways.

So, I say go for the 1300. it's only less tha $400 inc. taxes. how can you beat that ?
I don't think they're really any better than the others?
if they are, can some one explain to me why they are ?

I should have mine finished within a week or so, i'll post a pic.

Smoother/tighter action is what you'll often hear. Some like the weight and balance better. Definately cheaper replacement barrels on other models like the mossy if you want to turn it into a sluggun or skeet gun or put a different barrel on for some reason.

You can go the other way and say 'why bother with a winny when a maverick is rugged and dependable, and only 200 bucks'. But while it's true there is a difference between a mav and a remmie.

The "kid" I was talking to at Wholesalesports told me "Winchester is discontinuing the Model 1300, so we can't get them anymore."

Anybody know anything about that? I take most of what I hear with a grain of salt of course...until I KNOW for fact its true :)

I still really like that Remmy 870 though :D:D

I didn't think my choices would be this hard to pick between :D:D

If something happens and I cant get the 870, I am gonna get the Mossy 590A1

FUNFUNFUNFUN!!

I can't wait to get it and start flinging lead at gophers!!!!

winchester 1300

I am a VERY proud owner of a wichester 1300 and beside that the factory will close, I'm sure that someone WILL buy the rights to make this shotgun. I had a remington 870 and trade it for a winchester for reliability reason. My win 1300 never jam with anything (but the remmy does). So don't worry about the parts for this shotgun; it will be available the rest of your life!!!!!!!

i'm not 100% sure but i believe it might be FNH with their police shotgun...

Economy - tac-shotgun recipe. Find yourself an old Wingmaster, 2 3/4". plain barrel , full choke for about $150- $200 . Cut down the barrel and just move the bead, or install a new sight. have the metal glass beaded and cold blue it or otherwise colour it yourself. Refinish the stock or paint it camo. Add your mag extension, side saddle, scope base, etc.

Well the taxation center did it to me again........the Dreadful "Re-assessment"
:(
What this means to me is that I am now getting about a quarter of what I was expecting.

So for now I am going to have to wait to get ANY guns.

I am so dissapointed with this........I already called and disputed, but there is nothing I can do.

Well, at least I have most of the money I need to take the courses that I want to take. And in the long run I should be able to bring in more income.....

I think the hardest part for me is that I was also going to use some of that money to buy my daughter a Henry Mini Bolt Action .22 for her birthday, so we could go shooting together :(

Ah well.......not worth crying over I guess....

Its just such a shame that I already barely make enough to cover all my bills.......and I pay so much into taxes...and they are only going to give me a trifle amount back.......
