Tactical Stocks for "SVT 40"........ ?

Personally, I love milsurps. Own over 10 different milsurp rifles. That being said, SVT's and SKS' are uber available at the moment, how long that lasts remains to be seen. I bought these old war horses because they're cheap, simple to operate /take down, maintain, historical value and most of all, to shoot. I fully support an aftermarket stock or permanent mount. I shot a Romanian PSL recently. It is an amazing rifle, since I can't own one, I intend to get my SVT as close to that configuration as possible.

Why? We have Norc M14's for modding. Leave history alone.

Changing out a stock is not a permanent mod. It may make it safer to take the old guns out and shoot them without fear of damaging original wood stocks. The SVT-40 stocks are very svelte and prone to cracking and damage in the field so I would feel much better taking mine out moose hunting in a polymer stock.

That's it.... Just to get a bunch of folks panties in a knot.... I'm ordering one of these rifles and I'm going to mod the livin szchit out of it. Just because I can :D

"...permitted to share..." Sharing is communism.
"...A tactical stock..." There's no such thing. 'Tactical' is a marketing term only. Has nothing whatever to do with reality. You mean a synthetic? Then no. No U.S. market.

I don't understand why people complain about a simple stock swap. I'm afraid of scratching the original stock, so I'd rather have a synthetic one so I can preserve the old one. If the modification is completely reversible, what's the big deal?

Note the the OP used the term 'tactical', a term that is used far too loosely these days.

For example:

That was just the impression I got...

Ya... But for the rest of us cavemen, we know what he meant by loosly using the term tactical .... All the manufacturers use it in the same way.... So who cares.

A Tactical rifle to me, is a rifle built with add ons that make in more suitable for a conflict type environment.... Be it zombies, or other such targets. :)
Tactical to someone else might mean something entirely different.... Like say... "Mirror commando" tactical... :D

Who cares, mod, chop, cut, rebuild a svt-40 however ya want, but please share

Conflict type environment..... something 99% of the people here will never see. But hey, it's your money! David Hannum was right.

By all means, chop away! It just makes my SVT-40's more valuable. ;)

I'd be interested in a tactical type synthetic stock which looks vaguely SVD ish. Could make these rifles a little more user friendly and potentially improve accuracy but wouldn't permanently alter the weapon for those purists who abhor bubba.

Not mad at all... it just hurts my brain sometimes.

Same thing as modded Honda's. The only thing you can do is shake your head.

That's a good point, I really dislike those fart cannon hondas as well, they just allow me to pin point the people I don't want to hang around with.

Doesn't mean they are wrong for doing what they want to their own stuff.

People mod the SVT and SKS because the Libs said we can't have AK's or SVD/NDM-86.

If this wasn't the case, dealers wouldn't be able to give the SKS/SVT away other to some collectors or ammo deals.

The main question is why?

Anyone who adds 'tactical' accessories to a WWII rifle deserves a swift kick in the nuts. Especially with a permanent mod.

It is already tactical! Big muzzle brake, cool vented dealie, semi auto, big magazine, adjustable gas setting, the early ones have rails for a scope, switch for semi auto to auto. It's an assault rifle, sniper rifle, battle rifle all in one.

Most bad a$$ rifle of WWII.
