I love the looks of those new Remington Tac 2. But I have been wondering what you actually do with them if your not a cop or in the service. Can you target shoot with them? I have a Trap shot gun and a Turkey gun but these look so cool I feel the need. I'll have to part with my CZ to put the money together. Am I nutz here.

What kind of CZ do you have?
As far as your question goes...I have pondered that for a quite awhile myself. I guess you can shoot plastic pop bottles filled with water with 3" slugs...seems to be a popular pass-time...

we throw chunks of lake ice up and blast them with our nork and griz all the time. They also come with a plug and they work fine ground blasting grouse if they are dumb enough to let you walk about 10 yards from them.

You can use it to deer hunt during the slug-only season. With a cylinder choke it would be fine for skeet or close range sporting clays unless the club has a restriction on barrel lengths.

Or you can get a longer choke tubed 870 barrel to go along with it and do just about anything you want.

You imply that there are differences between this particular shotgun and most other 870's and there is no other use except for cops . I don't see anything beside a few cosmetics, you buy it for your own particular preferences and need of certain features, nothing else. I shoot a Benelli M4 and I since I've bought it I don't want anything else; Its short enough to manoeuver easily in the woods, yet very soft on the shoulder even with the most powerful 3" stuff and I simply love the collapsible stock and picatinny rail on top. I don't need no fishing pole featherweight O/U's because it doesn't fit in my own personnal preferences (I don't deny their prettiness though), yet I shoot at least as good or better than most people in my area on the trap and the sporting clay course.

toya: Thats no what I am implying. I was wondering if people on the site that own those particular firearms also use them for/at work and thats why they have them. Take deep breath. I have become a shot gun nut. But as I want it primarily for play I was wondering what kind of things ya do with them.
Dilly its a 17HMR Varmint, with a Bushnell 6x18 power scope, millet mounts and I put in the trigger spring and bushing. Trouble is I bought a Diana model 48 I love shooting to! We have a shot gun range so I though there are cool and I may just have to get one. I need encouragement....

If I may give my 2 cents. Keep your CZ. Its a beautiful gun.

These tactical shotguns are a fad - just see how many pop up on the equipment exchange. People take a cheap gun, add a whole bunch of expensive stuff to it, grow bored, try to sell said gun for what they invested, more often than not get stuck taking a loss. I'm sure there are some people that keep them, but honestly if you have two 12 ga guns and have to ask what a tactical shotgun is for...

Save your money and buy one off the EE for cheap if you must :D

No offence taken, maybe I took it a bit too seriously, my apologies:redface:

Yet, sometimes I do deal with real snobish conformists when I take my evil-looking personnal piece out of the trunk. Most people who comment usualy joke about it with the usual bank-robbing scheme, quite funny actually.

My suggestion, if you like that particular shotgun, then shell out for it! Just buy a few different sized choke tubes for it to make it more useful in different sitution that you may use it. You'll be the guy that doesn't have the same gun as the rest of the pack, be proud of it !

toya: no offence taken my friend! :D I am smitten with the damn things, and I did appreciate your thoughts. Also I can shoot 50 target loads for less than 50 HMR these days. Thats nutz! I will have to take a look at you Benelli M4 on line. hmmm EE batter go take a gander.
Ok I just saw the griz on the contest page. I take it they are based on the 870.

Hehe, now we're talking, there is one on EE right now. These guns don't sell for cheap though be advised; pretty much THE tacticool shotgun. I've put a Mesa Tactical 8-shell saddle and a trijicon reflex triangle model on mine. Lovely package :D

i bought a grizzly, dont feel a real need to add accessories and its fun to shot. and cheap to boot. i dont need any other reason than that

plus is that i can grab an 870 barrel and im good for different activities

What the heck are these grizzlys? They sound like fun. I will take look on EE. Don't know why I didn't before. Plus I was wondering about buying a new stock maybe for the 870. Turn that turkey duster into a tac turkey buster. Any one know of stocks you can buy?
Got any pics Toya?
Just saw the grizzly on the contest page........nasty.

Here is a shot of the reflex, not a very good one but you can see the triangle, albeit smaller than it is actually with a wierd orange color (digicam woes?)

I'll surely add a GG&G bolt handle some day and I'm thinking about a surefire M80 forearm :shotgun:

Wow: Thats a GREAT looking firearm. Hmmm this is getting serious. I happen to have a couple Red Dots too. 1 is on the turkey gun but I have one as a spare. Looks like I may have found a use. If you interested check out gunblast.com. There is a good article on the Ithaca Tactical SRT 12 Gauge Slug Gun.

Thanks for the pics, thats one fine looking shotgun. I see why your so proud of it.:D
