I think that is mostly because the true "tacticool" shooters aren't buying or even looking at stuff like this rem.... most prefer to make their own setups using a base action... I actually found when that Mossberg lever came out that the tactical guys were equally as disgusted as the Fudds....

Traditionalists get upset when their favorite manufacturer caters to the ninja crowd.... Me, I have no issue as long as said ninja knows how to safely operate his firearm....

Funny how I never hear black powder folks ##### and moan about the "tac cool" 1900's style hunting rifles many fudds like to pack around.

Smokeless powder, feed ramps, magazines, brass cartridges, scopes OMG! The horror, lol. Dear Fudds please get over yourselves, seriously. :D
 
At least its not as ugly as some of Mossbergs Tacticrap. To each their own, If you like the tactical stuff buy it if not don't.

Whoever designed the "Chainsaw" and the "Roadblocker" and that god awefull Tacticrap lever needs an enema.

If it sells product that would otherwise not have been sold, it makes perfect sense.

I like the feel of pistol gripped stocks. Their comfortable in the hand and are easy to hold in front, but that's just me and I can't stand side folders.

I agree.

For the last two years I have used a pistol gripped rifle for moose hunting because of a wrist injury. Now that I'm healed up I can use a normal rifle stock but I'll still occasionally take my "tactical" rifle. The ar style fit is just really nice to use.

I love my classic BRNOs but ugly guns have their uses too.

For the most part on this thread, there's been a lot of good give and take of opinion, from both sides of the fence. Possibly with the exception of one "Tactifool".

That style or tacticool look doesn't really appeal to me but as I stated in a previous post, if that's the choice of others, go for it. But again, it does seem to go a little overboard when that look is incorporated into a lever gun platform.

While the tactical or 'tacticool' look isn't a preference of mine, I can appreciate the functional characteristics or attributes. Some time back, I got an invite to try some long range shooting at a military range close by. Much of the equipment used was of that style and you can't argue with the quality of it and what results were being delivered out to 600+ Yds.

;)Still for me, on a hunting rifle especially, my preference is nicely figured wood and blued steel.

Don't misunderstand...I personally down't own, nor use, nor particularily *like* PG'd bolt action rifles (my own preference is for matte stainless and laminate) but it'd be a frosty day in hell before I started an insulting thread bashing your choice in hunting rifle (and you by association) because it doesn't match my vision of what a hunting rifle should look like.

Thanks, the picture is from one of my favourite spots.

I have rifles I like better and my heavy tactical target rifle isn't my first choice for hunting but it sure has no problem in that role.
The comments I get from the guys at camp are always fun too. :D

I plan on chopping the barrel down to get something like this and make it more packable.

Looks good:). What are the details on the two rifles you posted pictures of?
As I mentioned earlier, I used some similarily tactical configured rifles when I got the invite to join some local long range enthusiasts. The closest I have to anything tactical though is

The top one is a BRNO ZG-47 in 7x57 and bottom is a BRNO 21h in 8x57.

The target rifle is a MAK tube gun.

That is a double set trigger. If you want, you can pull the rear trigger and it makes the trigger to fire have a much lighter pull.

Very nice!!

The reason I asked is a while back I had a Brno in 7x57 with double/set triggers, although mine didn't have the butterknife bolt and I can't recall the model. :redface:Another in a long list that I got rid of over the years and shouldn't have.
