That was a quick season, 3 hunts, 2 birds.
Here is my last one from this morning. Now to get the bow ready for deer..
Life is good, but way better when your hunting.:)

Nice looking turkey! Way to go getting 2 birds. I'm working on my second tag. All 4 properties I hunt have lots of birds this year. It seems to be a good year for turkey in Ontario.

Thanks guys! I have a few spots right by home that I like to hunt, and they have produced for me every year with deer and turkey. This morning I went along as a guest to a buddies property, he scouted this bird the day before and was already tagged out.

Dakotamar, the birds are awesome! I don't like turkey from a store and I think these wild ones would have a way better reputation if they didn't share the same name. We cook them a few different ways, slowcooker, ka-bobs or just marinated and BBQ'ed. I typically only breast them, but I do have one from last year that was plucked and ready for the deep fryer.

Here he is yesterday, with his gals. You can tell it is him by the single white feather in the center of his fan.
I did not take the "before" pictures, they were done by my buddy who scouted this fellow out.

Nice going. I've been out a couple of times this year and saw 8 on one day a couple of weeks ago in and around North Augusta, near Spencerville Ont. 4 hens, 4 gobblers, although they were always out of range or got spooked.

I'm headed down there tommorow at 0300 A.M, hoping to be in place by 0500, for my last real day of hunting this spring. I hope to be able to post some of my own pics. Got a new shotgun too, a 12 guage Benelli Super-Nova. Very nice...Anyone else on here hunt south of Ottawa down toward the 401 ?

outside of Oxford Station, not too far from Spencerville

Update from my last. Hunting yesterday outside North Augusta got myself my first turkey. A jake, called in by my partner/guide. After all my shotgun patterning, testing turkey loads etc at 20-30 yards, I bagged him at less than 5 yards from a drainage ditch alongside a plowed up cornfield. After I dressed him out I got around 5 pounds of breast meat. Before last night I'd never had wild turkey. For taste, there is clearly no comparison to store bought bird. I am now officially hooked on turkey hunting....

regrets on lack of picture, I cant seem to upload one!
