set up this morning in the same spot i shot the first bird. heard gobbles in the field next to us(which i also have permission for). so we wait it out for a bit, nothing happens but we know where they are. so we decide to run and gun down a field path. well it turns out they where a bit closer than i thought and long story short we got busted. so we decide to break for breakfast and come back. it was a foggy crappy day and we knew they werent gonan leave that field for a couple hours until the fog started to cut. fast forward a couple hours and we drive past the same field and as predicted there where the same 2 Toms hanging out in the field. so once again we go into stalk mode and i crawl through some brush into a crappy shooting position where i didn't have eyes on the bird, but my buddy who was calling did (terrible thought on hind-sight) he gives me the "put your gun up" look, so i do so. well i'm not a huge guy so having my gun shouldered for about a minute was starting to wear on me. i finally see this bird at about 40yrds. big huge Tom must have been 30lbs. lol. well i get the shakes real bad and decide it is now or never. well that was a miss.
so we decide to hit up another one of my spots that is a few minutes away, that has provided us with birds in the past. we get there around noon and start our run and gun. calling at every corner so on so forth. well we come to the end of the field and let out a few very aggressive calls, next thing i hear is a thundering gobble from the gully down below (70yrds tops) we freeze for a second and sit down at the tree that we are standing beside. not 5 minutes later a Tom pops up from down in the gully about 15 yrds away from me. unfortunatly he happend to step right in front of a tree making him pop out of sight. so i sat with my red dot on the other side of the tree waiting for his red neck to pop out, and don't you know it that #### sucker decided to go back down the gully. luckly i saw him walk down the gully and hit an opening at about 30ish yards away. i quick adjustment and pull of the trigger and he dropped like a kennedy. hands down most exciting hunt i've ever had. big thanks to my "guide" justin. couldn't have done it without him. anyway's on to the pics.
and my tagged out pose
19lbs 9 1/4" beard 1" spurs. not the biggest of the 2 birds. but the beard on this thing is so thick it's rediculous. pictures don't do it justice.
