Was talking with a friend yesterday about shotguns.
He mentioned he's been looking for a 410 shotgun that comes apart for back packing, etc.

He mentioned seeing a couple at gunshows but they've always ben sold when he ses them.

I think he's talking about the SA Scout over and under.

Does anyone make a single shot 410 that is designed for back packing? IE the barrel stores in the stock like those .22 survival rifles.

.410-.45 colt

Can you shoot 45 Long Colt pistol ammo out of a 410 shottie or is the pressure to high? Seems you can out of a TAURUS 4410 pistol.

I don't believe you can chamber a 45 colt in a .410.shotgun. The .410 is a true bore and not a guage. I do think you could use the.41 mag. in a .410. I have seen derringer type pistols advertised as using .41 mag/.410 and they were smooth bores. The .41 mag. takes a true 41 cal. bullet. The 45 colt is a .452 bullet.

If your looking for a take down dirt cheap, find a used cooey model 840 or model 84. The barrel may be a bit long but it comes down to three pieces. Finding a used one should be easy.

I had a single shot baikal .410 that broke down into three parts, was great for backpacking trips

I have a 410 that breaks down to barrel, stock and forend. You could cut the barrel down to minimum legal length and it would be very easy to backpack. Check out pawnshops. etc. But, you could do the same to a 12 gauge and have a bit more firepower and not much more weight.

I recently looked at a N.E.F. packer model and it was marked on the barrel, .410 or .45 colt.

You can't safely put a .45 colt bullet through a .410 shotgun barrel. But you can make a .45 colt barrelled gun that is chambered so both the .45 Colt and the .410 shotshell will chamber and fire. It has been reported on other sites that the .410 shot doesn't pattern well because of the rifling and the .45 colt bullet isn't as accurate as it could be because of the long chamber. I don't know for sure about the pattern or the accuracy, as I don't have one.
