Take down rifle gunsmith

I have a Verney-Carron impact Affut Plus take down bolt action rifle that I bought a couple years ago from TradeEx, a site sponsor. Why fool around with "custom" modifications to an action that was not built to take down, when you can buy one for just over $2000 that is accurate, re-assembles repeatably to the same point of impact, is elegant, compact, and light weight. I really like mine. Because the 22" barrel is the longest part I can put it in a case that is only 26" over all outside dimension.

A short barreled shotgun or a takedown shotgun would be good choice for your offroad Camping trips.... Cheap to buy, cheap to replace, versatile.... but not a fun project for you to blow cash on.... :)

Dlask used to offer takedown services for Lever action rifles.... but as longwalker points out there are people making many types of take down rifles already.

What caliber were you considering?
