I just recently acquired a Winchester 1886 Takedown and really love this rifle. I'm surprised that Marlin hasn't come out with their 1895 in a takedown model. Would there be any interest from anyone else for one of these? I'm thinking about their MXLR coming apart right in front of the receiver.

If the Guide Gun broke in two I'd be more interested. There are aftermarket guys doing take down conversions, but they're awful pricey for what they are - a function to play with a few times and then never use again. I'd bet that 90% of takedown firearms sit in one piece for their entire lifetimes.

I hate the alloy receiver on the BLR. I know they're expensive and shiny but I think they feel kind of junky when you compare them to a Marlin. Just my 2 cents.

I have a Marlin Guide gun and I'd love it to be a take down. Wild West Guns will not deal with Canadians, they get plenty of business from the States and can't be bothered with us.

Their conversion is costly, if someone did this in Canada, I woul'd likely be a client of their's!

Dlask used to post on their web site that they did take down conversions and had a Win 94 pictured as an example.

I talked to Joe at the time and he said he could do my Marlin 1895GS something always came up so I never did get it done.

I'd check with Barry @ Bits & Pieces http://www.bitsofpieces.com/

and yes if my GS would have come as a take down I would have bought it and almost bought a black/gray laminate s/s Browning BLR only thing that stopped me was it came in 450 Marlin and not 45-70...
