Looking for a pump gun that will go into a case 20 inches or shorter .Gun will go under the seat of the helicopter and be used for bear defender . I don't want to use a folding stock . The old winchester model 12 came apart . But I would like something newer if possible . Thanks

Don't think anyone has made one of the take down style ones for a while. Even a that if speed is a concern then you still have to load the tube in those after you put them together. Smallest of the classic shotguns I can think of is an 870 with factory folder and 18 inch barrel, still gonna be over 20 inches though folded and barrel removed. but since you don't want that then the newest takedown is still probably a late model 12. :: From my limited knowledge thus not the end all opinion::

IMI timberwolf in .44 mag or .357 with 10 rounds of hot handloads will get the job done and is takedown to 23" for a 18" barrel and scope

It's not a shotgun but it weighs less than 6 lbs and packs a punch at close range.

The tripod bag is 24" long and the loony is the only tool required for assembly/takedown.

Do any of the Win 1897 copies takedown like the originals? They might come close to your 20" requirement and they can be bought new.

I don't know I'd take an old 1897 over a new norinco one (not a norinco hater as I own an m305) The model 10 works well when you get a good one, but they are not as dependable as the model 12. Can always go double barrel rather than pump if length trumps capacity, cut her down to 18 inches and you have a good short toy that will be quick to assemble (thus retaining its 26oal) and load. Double trigger ones are cheap and can fire both barrels at the same time.

Or put a 12.5" barrel on an 870 and not have to worry about putting the gun together and taking it apart. Unless the 20" dimension is mission critical in which case, you're screwed.
