I haven't been shooting IPSC much this year and was wondering if I don't renew my membership for next year would I have to take the BB course again? How long do I have to renew the membership?

Were you given a House Rules for your Province? I have a blue pamphlet for IPSC BC that says that the BB have to be taken if the member hasn't participated in four or more years. Between 2-3 years of inactivity you have to write an open book exam and compete in a Level I. Between 3-4 years of inactivity; open book and a level II. I don't know if this is the case for IPSC Ontario.

In Ontario, if you are away for such a short period, you will just have to arrange for a one-on-one session with an instructor who will review any rule changes or interpretation that came in while you were away and you will have to shoot the moving qualification exercises from the BB course. Providing you don't demonstrate unsafe practices, you will be cleared to shoot a probationnary match and be back on full status. Of course, you first have to pay your IPSC dues for the current year of your return. The instructor is allowed to charge a minor fee for his time, but that is nowhere close to the fee and the time involved in a full BB course.
