Taking a NR Firearm camping or hiking?

What are the regs on carrying a non-restricted Firearms (ie. rifle) while hiking/camping in Ontario and Quebec?

Would I need a Hunting permit, even though I would not be hunting?
 
Check the hunting regs. Here in Newfoundland you need a special permit or a hunting licence applicable to the type of firearm your carrying.
 
you re not allowed to have a firearms in national parks in quebec.

at night time ,being in possession of a spotlight and a firearm is considered hunting during night and that s illegal ...

so if taking a firearm in quebec is your solution that you need to in hunting mode or in being in wilderness area otherwise be ready to explain your situation and i can tell you that sometimes you ll explain that to a judge ...

call ceos locally before doing something they dont want you to do ... remember it s not the same there ... i lived there 4 years and mostly in wilderness area so it was easy to get a rifle or a shotgun in the south won t try it ...
